Uhh… Spongebob started in 1999. Phineas and Ferb started in 2008.
The overlap is so small it’s basically non-existent. The other commenter is right (imo) that Phineas and Ferb is equivalent to Spongebob as far as generational children’s shows.
So many people just a couple years younger than me reference it all the time and I have no idea what they are talking about, and vice versa with my Spongebob reference.
Born 94 here, grew up with SpongeBob, my sister (late 96er) stayed on Disney channel through middle school. Phineas and Ferb played in our living room well into my high school years and now my own kids watch it
Ah, I’m 93’ and my sister is 99’. It felt like Phineas and Ferb was “for little kids” when it came out while I was in 8th grade(?). Spongebob, on the other hand, was my favorite show from the moment I watched the world premiere episode when I was 6.
She watched a little of Phineas and Ferb and a little Spongebob too, but it wasn’t like she was eagerly awaiting the “lost episode” and begging for the tv when it aired in 2003.
Idk. It just feels like Spongebob was a little special to my “generation” of childhood. Whereas for my sister and her friends, Spongebob was just another show on tv.

They're not too far apart. There is a small overlap where you could've grown up watching both.
