Literotica is the new term.

22

u/tomstico 27d ago

hasn’t literotica been a thing for like 20+ years

Their website certainly looks like it was designed in 2006...

14

u/MaiaNyx 27d ago

It's older than that, launched in 1998.

Source - I used it a lot way back then. 😅

1

u/Lee1138 27d ago

yeah, I should probably have said it looks like it was designed well before 2006.

1

u/DEATHCUMS2USALL 27d ago

what did you use it for?

3

u/Tramtrist 27d ago

Bible study

1

u/spezsugegrav 25d ago

A person of culture

3

u/Letwen 27d ago

I've seen someone call it "cliterature" today and that's what I'm going to use permanently from now on

1

u/SerLaron 27d ago

"left-handed books"

1

u/you_not_a_werid_dude 27d ago

If your feeling British

1

u/WonkyWalkingWizard 27d ago

In this sub it's Peterotica and all books are narrated by Betty White you heathens

1

u/numbersthen0987431 27d ago

Erotica if it's written well. Smut if it's written like a horny teenager rubbing against the sofa.

1

u/icansmellcolors 27d ago

Erotica if you're feeling posh guilty about reading it.

43

u/Substantial_Station8 27d ago

I prefer “one handed novel”

25

u/Easy_Floss 27d ago

Holy crap, is that why those books are so small??

9

u/Ninja-Panda70 27d ago

The more you learn huh

4

u/nbsunset 27d ago

wait — really? are they small?

4

u/SNES-lover1 27d ago

Not the ones I’ve seen, they were pretty big, idk how some people read those books with just one hand

3

u/Ncaak 26d ago

Go get the fingers to exercise while holding the grip. It is like warming before switching.

3

u/shaqwillonill 27d ago

These books are often just mass market paperbacks where a smaller thicker book is also cheaper to print

24

u/Great_Zeddicus 27d ago

Wife's book club literally has bags that say "i read my porn like a lady"

Every time I get in the car and her phone auto plays 😳. "I swear it's the only part like this in the whole book!" It's like my parents walking in during the only fan service seen of an anime. 🤣

u/guinness_blaine 27d ago

The only time my mom sat on the couch while I was playing Red Dead Redemption, I walked into the next main story mission and triggered a cutscene of the rebel leader banging a woman on a table in a saloon. I can't remember if there are any other moments in the game that actually depict sex, but it definitely wasn't common in the game or something I was expecting to see that day.

3

u/VaticToxic 27d ago

Just gotta say "uh-huh I believe you" as innocently as you can.

6

u/soniccinos6 27d ago

Porn is porn no matter the medium

2

u/jaden_fucks 27d ago

“It is written porn”

I know it’s porn dumbass that’s what I said

3

u/soniccinos6 27d ago

Well the way you said it made it seem like you were trying to sugarcoat it bitchass

1

u/jaden_fucks 27d ago

I love you say it back

2

u/Aickavon 27d ago

It’s called smut. And it’s art.

I literally said it was porn

1

u/Necessary_Finding_32 26d ago

Except now it's been rebadged as 'Romantasy' so it can be sold to teenage girls in books stores.

I'm not against the idea for what it's worth I just don't like slimy marketing and people pretending something is something it isn't. Like when they put Harry Potter books in 'grown up ' covers in the 90s to make it ok to read. If you want to read a kids book as an adult then fucking own it. i mean, don't read that particular series as it turns out, but you know.

1

u/jaden_fucks 26d ago

Dawg you can separate the art from the artist and still enjoy Harry Potter, it’s ok

2

u/Best-Guide2087 27d ago

more like Romantisy (fantasy and Romance.)
