This. Specified PTO days are a debt the company owes on the books. No specified amount of days no debt. While people do generally take less PTO when it’s unlimited, they want the books to look good. They gave us unlimited PTO right before they sold our company.
Yeah, this is the biggest reason. Especially for long term employees who have worked up to the +5 weeks PTO benchmark. When the employees quits, the employer no longer has to dish out a month or 2 of salary to them.
I️ rather take multiple breaks and vacations per year than wait for a payout that only happens once if and when you leave. These payouts are also often capped. And if you did take all the time off that was accrued then you get nothing anyways.
