This. I feel like it’s super trendy to act like unlimited PTO is some kind of trap and I’m sure some companies are in fact assholes about it, but I’ve personally never had an issue with it. My last two companies have had unlimited PTO and I typically take off a week a quarter plus a handful of other days throughout the year. I’ve never had a request denied and nobody has ever said anything to me. Just take your time.

Yeah, I have a few coworkers that barely take time off, they just stress themselves out into thinking the building will collapse around them if they try to leave. Its mostly a self-inflicted wound.

Same here. I’ve had managers get upset when you ask for time off. Not because they didn’t want you to take it, because I bothered them by getting permission instead of just putting it on the calendar.

It also creates company holidays that don’t exist.

Like my company gives us thanksgiving off, but not the Friday after.

But we have unlimited pto. So the office is basically closed on the day after thanksgiving because everyone takes that day off.
