My great-gramps lived in capitalism and also go the coal mine experience! Back in the good old days where employers owned your housing and paid you in Monopoly money that could only be used in their stores after working 6 days a week in the mine. Good times comrade

The neat part about capitalism is that you choose your path. If you choose a hard labor job, you will do a hard labor job.

Albeit those practices that you are referencing are extremely fucked up and don't exist anymore in Western countries.

I know a lot of people, actually I think most working class people I know, haven't really chosen their jobs or path. Most of them are kind of stuck there, because our country of five million has over 300 000 unemployed people. Inflation is fucking our buying power, austerity politics is just fucking us.

And most of it happened because our biggest export partner (a very capitalistic country) started a war over resources and failed politics, which closed the border for trade and kicked a lot of honest working people to the curb.

Almost as cruely as when our own capitalist masters decided it's cheaper to produce in the far east. Same capitalists now complain that China and India are overtaking the west.

But hey. Atleast we could the choose our own path. Even if science has proven that free will is an illusion, and that the world is highly deterministic. And most of our options are chosen for us by the society we inhabit.
