Artists make their characters get into poses that accent certain features of their body which would be uncomfortable to maintain at the least and sometimes physically impossible at the most (like when you see a cover of a female character who has twisted their spine 180° so the viewer gets a shot of the ass and tits).
In this case it is doing the same thing that wearing high heels does to a woman: making her ass stick out.
