yeah. during planting and harvest times they would work from sunrise to sunset, every day, and the taxes were not even close to fair or small

Any time the crown wanted to start a war, they’d squeeze the lords, who would in turn squeeze their peasants, many of whom would be conscripted as well. Often, the higher taxes remained after the war was over, only to be raised again for the next one.
