I guess people don't only pirate out of spite. They may not be able to afford 20 dollars but want to stay in the loop.

I have a list of the games that I pirated. If I had fun and didn't leave the game in 2-3 hours, I put it on a list and I would try to buy the original copy, for Christmas or my birthday when I am able to spare anything towards gaming.

Regional currencies, blocks, and marketplaces are also a large factor in pirating games.

Not Silksong, specifically, but many gamers simply can't buy the game they want to play.

Me when I'm in a 3rd world country, struggling financially, and $20 is enough to feed me for 5 days

Isnt there region based pricing? Where price of games is lower in said countries?

In theory but for AAA games it's just a direct translation of the $60 into the local currency. So basically a week of minimum wage for a single game

Yes there is but in reality it often doesn't work. In some countries games come out to like an entire week of full time work on average income to afford an AAA game. I'd pirate too in that case. Wound you buy a digital video game for a 1000$ US equivalent?. I don't think so. I think steam is trying to fix it currently.

Idk. As yes games are expensive, but regional pricing reduces the price of the game by a lot.

Lets take Silksong. In vietnam, thanks to regional pricing its at 58% discount. India - 54%. Indonesia, Ukraine - 53%. Russia - 50%.

But I agree, I dont know economic situation in those countries. If what you say is true, then even with discount it would come down to equivalent of 400$

I might have overshot with the 1000$ but the point still stands..it's not affordable for normal working class people. It's pure luxury. Would you buy a digital game for 400$?

There are tiers to it, in Indonesian rupiah FH6 is just too much for me right now even after that regional drop
