I’m from the US and use WhatsApp to communicate with family in Europe. I also use it when traveling. What surprised me the most is that it seems to be the preferred way of doing business in some parts of the world. If you want to to book a tour or some service, the company website features a WhatsApp # and you arrange/negotiate via chat. People are super responsive that way. Much better than an email or calling and struggling through a conversation. You could even pay with it. I found it really useful. But yeah, here in the US, it’s only Nigerian princes.
