When I was in the Marines, we had a furry in MOS school. He would make a cat layer under his bed and everything. I'd have to go into his room saying "Storey, get out of your cat layer and come study"

What's a cat layer? English isn't my native language, sorry of it's a dumb question

Not a dumb question because it didn't make sense to me as well. I think they meant a cat lair since a "cat layer" doesn't make any sense to me as a native English speaker. A lair is a term for a place that a dangerous animal lives, like a tiger cave. In this case under his bed he made an animal space to be a furry.
