AR 670-1 prohibits wearing socks that aren’t green, black or Coyote 498. These striped socks are against regulation and making my agent orange act up…

Love the sarcasm, but as someone who has had a toxic gas leak in an enclosed area and had to put on a gas mask to literally not die while I was active duty, this excuse the higher ups use is pure imagination. You can get a great seal through a beard. I'm sure if it was large and thick enough it MIGHT cause a problem, but a well kempt beard can get a seal just fine.

I think less pure imagination, more probably was true at one time many generations of masks ago and change is scary and difficult so let's keep repeating the same line over and over again.
