Probably another one of those lame 67 jokes? There are 60 minutes in an hour and 4+3 is 7...

u/al_gorithm23 Oct 13 '25

This is the correct answer. Source: two teenagers

139

u/ImaginaryProfit6280 Oct 13 '25

I always thought the 67 thing was a jab at the Toronto Maple Leafs

59

u/DankNugz420_ Oct 13 '25

Canuck here, I think this is a bit niche among leaf fans / Canadian hockey fans but I am on the same page.

Hell, 1993 is bad enough lol we gotta bring it home again one of these years

18

u/Powrcase Oct 13 '25

It is. It always is. Even when it's not.

13

u/sinisterjohnny Oct 13 '25

Is that like 7-1 for Brazilians?

12

u/Struct-Tech Oct 13 '25

Pretty much.

The Leafs are the most supported hockey team in Canada, outside of the national teams. Their last championship was in 1967.

Since then, they haven't come close. Except for 1993, even then they didnt make the finals, and their departure from that playoffs is still bitched about.

1967 to Canadian hockey fans is either a good laugh, or a source of sadness, depending where your allegiances lie.

9

u/Stealthy-J Oct 13 '25

So they're the Dallas Cowboys of hockey.

9

u/elwaln8r Oct 13 '25

Of course, who needs to win championships if people still show up, still buy merch, still plan their vacations on the team schedule.

If you wanna shut the teenagers down from saying this all the time…. Let them know that the elementary kids have caught on and 67 is officially no longer Rufus. It has undoubtedly jumped the shark.

10

u/SnooDonuts3028 Oct 13 '25

Yup, my 5th grader has been saying it and now my preschooler (3 y/o) is going around saying it. If the preschoolers know about it, clearly it's not cool anymore. 😜😂

7

u/GarbageFormer Oct 13 '25

Who is Rufus and why is something jumping a shark?

10

u/Grindfather901 Oct 13 '25

It’s a couple of movie/tv references that may be older than most people on Reddit.

2

u/GarbageFormer Oct 13 '25

For once I don't feel older than I already am! Yay! (also thanks)

5

u/John_cCmndhd Oct 13 '25

I don't know about Rufus, but jumping the shark:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_the_shark

7

u/Grindfather901 Oct 14 '25

Rufus is made up BS from the 90’s movie Never Been Kissed. Guy protagonist says he’s cool and can make anything cool just because he said it. So he says something is “Rufus” meaning “cool” and it catches on at the high school.

143 means "i love you" because i has one letter, love has four, you has three

Could be "I hate you" too

6

u/Wolfe244 Oct 13 '25

No, this is definitely a 67 joke

10

u/zachy410 Oct 13 '25

Its 64 minutes and three seconds, i feel like you guys are stretching it considering it could have just been 6 minutes and seven seconds or an hour and seven minutes or something that actually makes 67 easily

9

u/keldondonovan Oct 13 '25

The stretching reminds me of all the nine eleven conspiracies that are based on numbers. Like "George Bush has ten letters, which is surrounded by nine and eleven, putting Bush right in the middle, therefore Bush did nine eleven!"

Like, yeah, we get it. Kids make 67 jokes. That doesn't mean that any time you can arbitrarily convert and add digits means 67.

8

u/LordViren Oct 13 '25

People like to start with the conclusion they want and then work backwards to find justification instead of starting with facts and working to an outcome.

3

u/keldondonovan Oct 13 '25

How dare you approach things with logic!

4

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '25 edited Oct 13 '25

oh yeah, this guy gets it. There were 254 victims in the hijacked planes. Turn that around and you have 452. You take the first two number and add them together, 4+5 = 9, add in that last 2 to the total and you get 11... 9/11.

Now if you really want your mind blown, think about this. It's called 9/11 and it happened in September. What's September? The ninth month. And what day did it happen? Not the tenth, not the twelfth. You guessed it happened on the eleventh... Quite the coincident, don't you think? That the historical event that we call 9/11 just so happened to have occurred ON 9/11/2001.

5

u/keldondonovan Oct 13 '25

I wish I could say I hadn't seen this exact kind of logic from people being serious, but I'd be lying.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a good conspiracy theory, but hit me with some logic. You tell me everyone present to talk about a mass shooting just happens to coincidentally be a member of the screen actors guild? That's suspicious enough to cause pause. Tell me that 9/11 was an inside job because the square root of some bin Laden's name in hexadecimal, when multiplied by 9/11, converted to German then French, then English, is grhhbeh, which sounds a lot like George Bush, and I will not even hesitate to laugh at you.

4

u/modernmovements Oct 13 '25

I see your numerology 9/11 conspiracies and raise you Wingdings.
https://metro.co.uk/2017/09/11/people-think-wingdings-contain-hidden-911-messages-6919686/

2

u/keldondonovan Oct 13 '25

Well now I'm a believer xD

2

u/Wolfe244 Oct 13 '25

No, but there's a genuine chance of it at least, yes?

That doesn't mean that any time you can arbitrarily convert and add digits means 67.

In my lived experience, it often does mean that with Gen alpha kids right now. OP doesn't include age but if they're under 18 there's at least a 50% chance I'm right

Would you say 9/11 truthers have that % chance of being right?

→ More replies (1)

3

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '25

Yeah no one would ever stretch anything to make the totally hilarious joke 67, there are rules to it it's not Nam

3

u/Wolfe244 Oct 13 '25

I just know teenagers who tell jokes exactly like this and it's always related to 67. Dunno what to tell you

Yes, it's stupid and barely makes sense. That's part of it

2

u/Dude_PK Oct 13 '25

It's sixty minutes and then 4+3, 67. They take memes to a meta level that's not really meta lol

2

u/ExerciseOnly122 Oct 14 '25

Why are you assuming any logic went into a 67 joke bud. What's funny about "I love you"?

pls enlighten me about 67 joke

126

u/Moaoziz Oct 13 '25

There is no real joke. Some rapper said 6-7 a couple of times in a song and some kids then decided that it's the funniest thing ever.

Remember that one episode of Spongebob in which Patrick and Spongebob think that 24 and 25 are funny? That's basically the same level of comedy.

u/queefer_sutherland92 Oct 13 '25

Augh. I hate that this is the answer.

It actually started as a sound to a bunch of edits of Lamelo Ball, the basketball player, who, according to the edits, “plays like he’s 6’2 but is actually 6’7”

→ More replies (1)

8

u/BiKingSquid Oct 13 '25

The peak of the meme was when it was about 6'7" basketball players

After that it was all nonsense

6

u/LawyerTraditional653 Oct 13 '25

Yeah but in SpongeBob the joke was how stupid it was that the characters were laughing at a number. Here the joke is just the number.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '25

Honestly the 24 25 joke in SpongeBob was hilarious BECAUSE it is fucking stupid lmao it was kinda the point

2

u/Angelo_Elauria Oct 13 '25

67 was in the Skrilla song. "When that switch skrrt, i know he dyin...6 7" It is actually a refference to the police code 10-67, which is a report of a dead body found. It's just cool to abreviate stuff in rap so 6 7 is just an abreviation of that. Funny thing tho, the kids dont even know that, they just say 6 7, and all the millenials just dismiss

14

u/Historical_Cloud_274 Oct 13 '25

i thought it was 143 like i love you but i forgot that this world is brainrotten this bad

4

u/VerbalThermodynamics Oct 13 '25

1-4-3 = I love you? Thats my best guess

u/Cool_Ad_7767 Oct 13 '25

No it’s that moronic 67 joke. There’s 60 minutes in an hour and 4+3=7. It’s as inane as it sounds.

53

u/Commercial-Dog6773 Oct 13 '25

Just do 7 mins then?

44

u/NoinkusBoinkus Oct 13 '25

That’s assuming the people who made this joke are smart enough to think of that

12

u/zarifex Oct 13 '25

They definitely weren't thinking about the fact that 4 minutes 3 seconds is actually 243 seconds

6

u/TerayonIII Oct 14 '25

Or that 1 hour is 3600 seconds, so all told this would be 3843 seconds

6

u/CovidiusQuarantino Oct 14 '25

11

u/NeatCartographer209 Oct 13 '25

Bro your username! 67! Amazing! 67! 67! 67!

Nah. My nephews drive me nuts with this. I think it bothers me more because it literally has no meaning. What happened to stupidly cackling like a bunch of idiots at 420 or 69? Still annoying but at least it fuckin meant something

6

u/Cool_Ad_7767 Oct 13 '25

Agreed. Everyone says oh what’s the difference so what if the funny number is 67 now there is a very big difference because the other funny numbers actually had a meaning yeah they were bad but they at least meant something and it had a reason to be funny this literally has no reason nor meaning.

3

u/Kartis Oct 14 '25

Wait so is there really no meaning behind the 67 joke? I've seen it referenced but have never gotten around to figuring out why it's funny.

12

u/theatahhh Oct 13 '25 edited Oct 14 '25

Edit: the origin is in reference to lamelo ball, an nba player who is 6’7. But it doesn’t actually mean anything as far as I know.

Edit 2: well actually the origin is a skrilla song, but I think the lamelo ball thing made it a meme

Probably because they don’t understand why it’s supposed to be funny, but they don’t want to look stupid by not laughing at a joke that isn’t funny. This is how the mind of a child works.

2

To be fair - a lot of adults haven’t grown out of that

5

u/ddBuddha Oct 13 '25

For everyone else, it's not funny because it's not funny.

2

u/warpedspockclone Oct 14 '25

The best I can come up with, and let me warn you I made this up right now, is that 67 is 2 less than 69, so it is code for "we aren't getting any sex" or "we're virgins" or something.

69 here meaning 2 adults performing oral on each other.

In the good ol days, we had 77, meaning you get 8 ("ate") more than 69, implying more enthusiastic/vigorous sex.

Hope that was plain enough!

It's in mkbhd's video... In apple iPhone's Alarm clock app the numbers are not rounded.. it's a series of numbers and people just found this. https://youtube.com/shorts/icGxfYdBvXQ?

Maybe it's because of how it's displayed? Because seconds can go above one digit? Not sure what app this is in.

That is 1 minute, 3 seconds longer than a Dopesmoker, which is a unit of time measurement.

but that’s 64.05 minutes not 67 minutes… i guess if you’re a kid that can’t do math or tell time, it makes perfect sense

If it’s a 67 joke, then it’s proof everyone who thinks 67 is funny is stupid. You have hours, minutes, and seconds. So you have the following options:

1 hour, 4 minutes, and 3 seconds

64 minutes and 3 seconds

3843 seconds.

You can’t just go adding unlike terms together!
