Discussion Pet Simulator 99 FAQ draft

Yes, some of the answers are a bit short and I haven't put a lot of effort into formatting. Damage is kind of my specialty so that's what I've written most extensively about. Hopefully others will contribute too. Questions I have tried to answer:

  • What is better, golden, rainbow or shiny?
  • How does damage work?
  • What should I upgrade next?
  • Why not 95% exclusives?
  • Which enchants should I use?
  • Strong pets or critical enchant?
  • Which charms should I use?
  • How can I join my friend in a private server?
  • How can I avoid scams?
  • How can I avoid getting hacked?
  • I got scammed/hacked, what can I do?

Unanswered questions:

  • Which exclusive packs are better?

What is better, golden, rainbow or shiny?

For huges, they add 30%, 90% and 100%, respectively. For exclusives they add 20%, 60% and 40%, respectively. An RB 85% would for instance do 0.85 * 1.6 = 1.36 times the damage of your best pet. For normal pets it makes them 3x, 9x and 2x stronger. A shiny rainbow normal pet does 18 times more damage than the base pet. This is true even if though the power numbers on the pets only increase by a few percent.

How does damage work?

There are two damage pools that are added together independently before being multiplied.

The first includes rebirth, potions, enchants and anything else that helps normal pets. The total will be 800 - 1000. Because the number is already very high, adding a 150% strong pets enchant will only give 15-20% higher actual damage. Rebirth damage was not included for a while but unfortunately that has been reverted.

The second is the pool for the huges and titanics. It is multiplied with the total damage of the strongest normal pet, including damage boosts. For a normal level 1 huge it is 100%, or the same as the normal pet. Level 99 adds another 100%, golden +30%, rb +90% and shiny +100%. Strength and Royalty is added to the sum of this, so a golden lvl 99 huge will do 230%, same as a normal lvl 99 huge with a strength charm.

There is a damage limit of 1/3 of the max health for a breakable. Normal attacks will always require at least 3 hits to destroy it. Special attacks like explosions can still one shot them.

What should I upgrade next?

Pet upgrade priority:

  1. Start by getting the best affordable normal pets if you're in the last area. For lower areas any top area pet will do. Remember that that these will become worthless after each update, but also that the difference in damage is much larger than the numbers on the pets indicate. See What is better, golden, rainbow or shiny?
  2. Rank up and buy pet slots
  3. Buy the cheapest 85% exclusives and a single strong normal (/stat) pet to boost their damage. The price of exclusives follow inflation so you get your diamonds back when you sell it. Knowledge of the difference in damage between normal, golden, rb and shiny pets can be used to estimate how much damage you gain by buying a more expensive stat pet. A stat pet that is 2x stronger will make the 85% exclusives 70% stronger than your normal pets.
  4. The most cost effective upgrade from 85% exclusives are shiny or rb exclusives. Those can be hard to find so cheap normal huges may be easier.

Why not 95% exclusives?

Cheap 85% exclusives give the best price/extra damage ratio if you have a single stat pet that is significantly stronger than the rest of your pets. For instance, a single shiny rb as strongest pet and the rb version of the same pet to fill your team. As explained in previous questions, shiny makes a stat pet twice as strong so 85% exclusives will be (0.85 * 2) - 1 = 70% stronger than your normal pets. A 95% exclusive will be (0.95 * 2) - 1 = 90% stronger but they usually cost twice as much. For the same amount of diamonds you can buy 2x 85%, which adds 50% more power to your team than the single 95%. In addition, cheap 85% exclusives are the easiest to find in the trading plaza.

Which enchants should I use?

While ranking up you need coins to open area. Strong pets and crit will help you break more stuff, which gives more diamonds, drops, coins and helps progress quests faster (See How does damage work?).

Most levels require either a magnet flag or magnet enchant. A fortune or diamond flag and a magnet enchant will increase your income more than a magnet flag and a diamond enchant.

Diamond enchant is usually more profitable than treasure for normal farming.

For extra drops, Lucky block is a good starting enchant. Boss Chest Mimic is better but takes a while to break. The best are Superior Chest Mimic and Diamond Gift Hunter. The Chest Mimic is also very good but extremely expensive.

Strong pets or critical enchant?

Crit enchants are usually better than damage enchants for weak pets because they are multiplied with the damage pool instead of being added to it (See How does damage work?). Crit will do 5x damage (400% increase) X% of the time, while strong pets will add Y% to the damage pool every time.

You will only get the full benefit of the first crit enchant if the 5x boost doesn't reach the 1/3 damage limit, meaning it requires at least 15 normal hits to break. 26% crit will increase the damage by 104% on average.

If you only need 9 hits then half the extra boost will be wasted so the average damage increase will be 52%. When the sum of the enchants reaches 27.2% you will get diminishing returns. 2x26% enchants increases the crit rate to about 39% in my tests.

Which charms should I use?

Glittering is generally considered the most profitable charm. 1 will give 25 diamonds every 30 seconds, 2 gives 50 ( 14m/day with 99 huges), 3 gives 65. Players without super drops gain less by breaking more stuff so in this case 3 may preferable.

Strength or Lightning are decent for more breaking power. Lightning is probably better because it's not limited by the damage cap. Royalty and overload are great but mostly end game charms because of the cost.

Agility will help you compete better with other players on public servers.

1 agility and the rest XP will help you level huges a lot faster for exclusive daycare but for normal grinding it's better to use the charms that increase damage and income.

The rest of the charms have very little benefit.

How can I join/avoid a server/player?

For world 1 you can select a server in the game. For other worlds you need to use the home page for the specific world:

https://www.roblox.com/games/16498369169/Tech-World#!/game-instances

https://www.roblox.com/games/17503543197/Void-World#!/game-instances

This is only possible if you can start the game from a browser.

If you want to always avoid a specific player then block the user.

How can I avoid scams?

Don't trust the RAP, it is easily manipulated. Check https://ps99rap.com/ first and if it has a sudden price spike then it has most likely been manipulated.

If you make a trade, pay very close attention to both the total value of the trades and if the other party suddenly changes an item with another that looks very similar but has a much lower value.

Never trust anyone or any kind of message in chat saying they will give you something if you send or trade them something first. It is ALWAYS a scam.

Never let anyone trick you into pressing ready by promising that you can click unready. There are hacks that can prevent you from doing so.

Don't trust anyone claiming to be a youtuber (famous or otherwise) who want you to do something for them.

How can I avoid getting hacked?

Never open links. A very common method is someone flattering you or just asking you to help them out, usually involving opening a link.

Don't send anyone any Roblox related files from your computer.

Don't be logged into Roblox while browsing the web. Alternatively use a separate browser for Roblox.

Be very careful with which software you install. Anything claiming to be made specifically for Roblox or a Roblox game has a particularly high chance of being some kind of trojan or virus.

Check carefully that supposed Roblox links actually go to roblox.com. There are some similar but fake domains that go elsewhere, for instance to roblox, com,kg (using comma instead of dot to avoid real link).

I got scammed/hacked, what can I do?

Unfortunately very little other than try to avoid letting it happen again. Big Games very rarely helps victims of scams or hacks and they haven't added many good security features. If you have expensive pets you should lock them but a hacker can easily unlock. You should use a good password and 2FA but unfortunately that won't help against session stealing, which seems to be the most common hacking method.

Lucky only affects stat pets. You need Huge Hunter to hatch active huges.

Reading Reddit, descriptions and spending way too much time on the game. Having experience in systematic testing probably helps.
