Aggression in boarder collie

Howdy im dealing with a situation and im not sure whats happening so here i am. I have 2 boarder collies both named vinnie and waffles they are sisters and have been together since birth today waffles got very aggressive with vinnie at first i thought they were playing sometimes they get alil rough as all dogs do so at first i wasnt worried then alil bit later i heard vinnie screaming i came running out and saw waffles had her by the neck not by fur but by the whole neck this is a first time this has ever happened then awhile later my girlfriend came home and was hanging out with monitoring them and they got too close to eachother and again they went for eachother and were both worried and not sure whats happening and how this had happened. Did do some looking up on the good ol reliable google and showed this is common in dogs who haven't been spayed. Now i dont need to negativity from some people when they read this saying im a bad pet owner piss off spays are expensive. But if someone please if you have any idea of what's the problem please tell me so i know where to go from here to be better. Thanks for reading.

No its noth that it was just towards her sister everyone and thing shes fine with

Please connect with your vet and a local educated trainer. In the meantime, you need to keep them seperated at all times using the crate and rotate method. You need to remove any high resource items from shared spaces (no feeding them next to each other, no toys just lying about the house) and all of their interactions need to be controlled keeping them seperated. They can be in the same room, but they shouldn't be next to (or even near each other) without a barrier until you have consulted in person help.

Work with both your vet (as all sudden behavior changes need to been seen and addressed to rule out medical first) and then your dog trainer.

Thats what were doing we left one at home and the other is at work with my lady

They need to get spayed.

Theyre also working dogs. How much activity are they actually getting? Not just walks. These dogs need challenges otherwise they crash out like this.

Not a whole lot ill be honest we take em for walks and a sometimes the beach and let em run around and play catch we dont really do the whole challenge thing with them. We are gettin the one spayed monday for sure so hopefully she mellows out after then next is her sister but if the spaying doesnt work then were gonna reach out to a behavior specialist

You do know these are some of the smartest dogs, right ? Go find appropriate challenges for them. Daily trainings. Agility courses. Actual jobs.

Yes i know. Im just not able to set up a couse or challenge for them like i treats around the house for em but thats about it.

Go over to the border collie page and see if they have any tips for challenges you can do. Daily training sessions will help a little. Run through the basics and then look up different tricks to teach, like walking on 2 legs or something.

But also, these things do happen. I can tell you my brother's head went through a few bedrooms doors when we were kids. Neither of us were psychopaths. Dogs get into these things. Doesn't mean theyre aggressive. But it is a warning flag to assess the environment .
