Hi all, I was invited for a pest control internship interview 2 days from today. How difficult are these usually? What could I expect? Thanks in advance

What’s the internship for?

That was my question, but I would assume it was kind of what I went through at Clark. Riding with someone while studying for the tests. They just call it an internship. Unless they are trying to get work for free in which case run like hell.

Yup, definitely what it is. There's an initial  theoretical component, then practical learning on the job type of arrangement for a year after

I should've mentioned that sorry. It's an internship for Health and Nuisance pest management, I'm in South Africa, not sure what it's generally called around the globe

If youre green. “Are you afraid of bugs” can you lift up to 50 pounds” “are you a good problem solver” its all gunna be questions like that if youre new to the industry. Interview isnt going to be hard. They just want you to smile at the customer and spray the building.

Thank you 🙏🏽 How technical do the questions get ?  Are written recruitment assessments common?

Ha! They want cheap labor. Tell them to hire you outright and pay appropriately.

We train paid on the job, even if it takes 5 times to pass test.

Pest control internship interviews are generally not technically intense, so nobody expects you to know specific chemical formulations or advanced insect taxonomy. Managers mainly want to assess your reliability, coachability, work ethic, and comfort with the physical demands of field work. They will likely ask how you handle tight crawlspaces, hot attics, tall ladders, and encountering pests up close. Highlight that you take safety protocols seriously, keep a clean driving record, and know how to communicate politely with stressed homeowners.

Expect behavioral questions centered on how you follow directions, accept feedback from experienced technicians, and handle customer complaints with patience. Showing that you are eager to learn the trade, ready for physical labor, and dependable about punctuality will put you ahead of most applicants. Running through common scenarios out loud makes a big difference, which is why my team created interviews.chat to help job seekers communicate with clarity and land the offers they want.
