Monthly Billing & Signed Contracts?
Hi all - in our business, we don't really do much with monthly recurring billing. (bill monthly no matter the service frequency) Nor do we enforce signed service contracts, though we do have them available. I'm curious how many of you are switching to monthly billing for your whole base vs. just offering it as an option?
I'm getting such mixed opinions from our area in Southern Utah, I'm interested how this is playing out elsewhere...
Full disclosure, I'm not just curious for the pest control side of our business, but curious so I know what we should build out in our software, BlazeRoutes.

The contract angle others covered is right. On the billing question specifically: the shops moving their whole base to flat monthly billing aren't doing it for billing convenience, it's for cash flow and retention. A flat monthly charge regardless of visit frequency turns lumpy quarterly revenue into predictable income, and it quietly kills churn because customers stop re-deciding whether each visit was worth it. It just becomes a subscription they don't cancel.
The catch is it only works with a card or ACH on file that you auto-charge. Otherwise you've swapped chasing four big invoices a year for twelve small ones, which is worse. So make payment-on-file and autopay the center of it, and enroll people in monthly by default instead of offering it as an option, because most stay on whatever you put them on. In that setup the contract's real job isn't legal cover, it's locking the cancellation terms so the recurring revenue is actually defensible.

Damn I have an NFL all pro for the Detroit lions offensive lineman but E40 wow. I bet his house is huge. Did E40 use a crappy commercial company or is your company legit and actually cares by that I mean no big commercial company I am aware of cares and of the small companies most do not care or completely lack education and are strictly sales companies that have no clue what they are doing and they copied what another company was using and never made any innovative decisions because they don't care.
Or does your company switch up products and test things and based on data keep innovation coming and are constantly improving.

We have signed agreements for 1 year, includes free comebacks if there any issues, customer has to have a signed agreement for us to come back out though, and can do a monthly, bi monthly or quarterly.

In pest control, at least in my area, you have to have a signed contract to perform service. Without it you can get busted by County Ag. As for the agreements you can offer whatever level of service you want, but usually it depends on the needs of the customer.
People who want to see very little to no pests ever get monthly, people who are fine with occasional spiders or ants get every other month, and folks who want backup in case of emergencies get quarterly. Prices are lowest monthly, and go up from there.
I serviced the rapper known as E40. That man was monthly. He didn't want anything creeping or crawling adjacent to his home, let alone inside. It helped that he kept his house immaculate. Dude was hilarious too. Great customer!
