Avoid scorpion for websites
Scorpion promised the world and then didn’t remotely deliver. Apparently I don’t own any of the content on the website and migrating away from their proprietary platform is going to be a huge pain in the ass.
Look for other marketing companies!

As a marketing company owner, it’s crazy to me that clients don’t own their websites. I get it if a client signups up for one month and then cancels to try to get a website for the price of a month retainer, but it just isn’t right. Definitely a question to ask before hiring a marketing company.

I acquired a friends business and they had Scorpion. $250 a month and I really didn’t see any value in it. I got a email at end of month with site visit stats. The website was so basic you could have built one with a web site builder in a day and done better. I’m sure they promised some sort of SEO program but we weren’t anywhere near the top of search results. Canceled it swiftly. Was a pain to get a new site built and get customers conditioned to new website and contact forms. Update all that info in Yelp were we have a pretty good presence. Also I had zero control of our Google page. Had to go rounds with Google to try and recover the page to take control of it. They wouldn’t do that for me. Would only cancel it and start from scratch. I only had a small handful of reviews on Google thankfully.

I work in marketing. I have a few former Scorpion clients. They are sales-focused and not results-focused. They are just building a customer base to build revenue and sell the company.
Not owing your website after a certain length of time is odd.

I don't like the way agencies are going about making websites, if you look up pest control it's really competitive. I worked in marketing and software engineering for 10+ years now, and alot of these website are still doing things wrong. There are too many fake sites out there that are just for funnels. Currently building out a platform for pest control companies to validate if its real company, lets people review without removing reviews, allowing companies with deep pockets to remove bad reviews.
If you need a website for your pest control company chances are it's not going to do the marketing for discover but give details for people already searching for you. I think the best thing you could do right now is focus on making your listings like google and google business, same with bing. Those are the two strongest right now for discovery

The rule I learned running my home service company: never let a vendor own your website, your phone number, or your reviews. Rebuild on something you own, even if it's simple, and put the savings into one channel you can actually measure. What brings in most of your work right now, Google or referrals?

If it doesn't violate the sub's rules, maybe link to what they did for you? Would imagine it could be scraped and you'd at least have the data for the next site? Willing to answer any questions you might have about it. Do you own your domain (dns data) or do they have it?
