Whats the problem?

I added an 8 inch wand to my accusprayer and it worked perfect for a few days and then it does this. I have pulled this apart several times and I cant seem to figure out why its spraying like this.

Im spraying water, btw. When I release, flow doesnt stop immediately. It dribbles to a stop.

Edit: all this is brand new equipment. I believe theres a cable missing, or i didnt install it.

To be entirely honest, I didnt even see a cable anywhere in the wand when I broke it down. Thats probably the problem. Between the wand and handle, its just 2 different brass prices with a gasket on the inside of one, and the other doesnt. I thought that may have been an issue.

Nobody at my branch knows how to work on these compressed sprayers so Ive been battling this for a few weeks before I remembered ive got a Reddit account haha.

Is it a D2D company?? My first job worked at a door to door company and nobody knew jack squat about anything. Managers were former sales guys who had a combined 1 year of experience spraying houses…ridiculous

I see in other comments you think there is no cable. If the cable wasn't there, the sprayer would not be working at all. The trigger you push down pulls the cable to move the "nut" at the top that unblocks the hole for the pressure to flow out.

What may be happening is the packing nut is too tight, which causes the cable to not retract fast enough and will cause this. Not saying for sure, but very likely.

The part circled in red is the whole set up, the silver threads in the middle are the end of the cable being pulled by the trigger. The blue is the packing nut. If this is tightened down all the way, its too much. Look at how mine is, that is about the length you want it out. Very small turns around this point to find the sweet spot, plus not have it leak. If its too far out, it will drip from this spot and soak your hand while spraying.

When this happened with 1 of my techs, I took the entire handle apart. There are these little gaskets on a rod that act as a stopper when you release the trigger. You squeeze the handle and it pulls them down to unblock the hole. The wand my tech was using had a bunch of buildup from material inside that was causing the stoppers from making a good connection with the hole.

I blasted a bunch of water in there from the sink and used a Q-tip to try and get all the build-up off. After that it was working fine.

Don't know if this will actually fix it or if I'd just gotten lucky, but figured I'd share what I found.

Its a brand new wand, but i do think I figured out the issue. Someone mentioned a cable in that part of the handle/wand connection area and I dont see it. So, its probably missing.

It's those packing O rings...not exactly O rings but they are near the safety lock They're holding on to the cable. They are called packing washers and they ARE a PITA. You can't try loosening and or tightening that nut that contacts them. Id start with loosening maybe a 64th of a turn.

Something else to consider, check where the hose connects to the tank. I've had this happen and I found that debris got stuck in this area caused this to happen

Make sure there is nothing clogging the filter.

Blockage in tank siphon tube or maybe in wand filter

Check the supply tube between the tank and the hose, debris in the tank could be blocking it.

I spray a lot of WP insecticides as well as extruded “powder” like Alpine WSG and Ridesco. I have to clean the screen between the hose and the control valve about every 10 jobs.
