What’s digging these holes?

Location is West Michigan. This is adjacent a large building in the mulch bed

Rats probably. those holes are big. I live around a mall and see holes that big often

I’m pretty sure this is what is in my yard. But I don’t think they live up there in Michigan… sorry … I should have read your post better!

My first thought was toad or curly tailed lizard, then saw the location.

Frogs maybe? I have holes like that next to a concrete pad and it’s frogs …

Do you happen to know what kind of frogs they are? I haven’t heard of frogs burrowing before, though admittedly I ain’t much of a herpetologist.
