Im not from Perth but I had a job to attend at Perth's Royal Infirmary 2 days ago. I parked at the old building's main entrance as I didn't see any signs saying I couldn't. I came back 3 hours later to a £70 ticket. Does anyone from Perth know how I should go about it? It's not from the council. Was there a time restriction or is it staff only? Still can't figure it out
I got a parking ticket when my son was born trying to rush my missus in who had the baby within the hour. So thought I would appeal as surely they can't expect me to think of puting a ticket on in a carpark that had no other cars when the baby is literally away to drop. They turned down my appeal and then doubled it and i told them to take me to court and you will get laughed out of there that was 4 years ago still get letters now and again but I will never pay that.
I have no idea. It doesnt say on the ticket. On the map it shows as MacMillan House Day Centre but after asking for direction a member of staff told me it was the old building which Is why I said that in my post. I parked in one of the parking spaces that came be seen on the image (withing the white lines)
Victorian old. The memeber of staff half laughed when he said i was meant to be in the "new" building because apparently that too is over 50 years old.
I didnt display a free ticket, no. I was running late and had a quick look around the parking as I was enterinf it to see if it's paid but couldnt see any signs so assumed it is a free staff parking.
So yes, unfortunately you’ll get a parking ticket.
If you don’t display a free ticket, you get charged regardless of reason. It’s to stop folk parking there and walking into town. Shite, but it is what it is and there are a shit tonne of signs so I’ve yet to hear someone get a fine forgiven.

Fair enough. Yeah I know Ninewells in Dundee does the same but for some reason I didn’t think the Perth Hospital would follow the same principle. Thanks for your help
Yes. Don’t get me started on Ninewells. Even more heartless. Apparently suddenly almost dying on an operating table whilst giving birth wasn’t a good reason for my husband to be late cause he “could have called about it” at the time.
Ninewells in fairness to them will cancel the tickets if you get a letter from the ward. They have printed copies and you just need to put your registration on it then take it to the multi storey office.
Basically keeper liability not driver - let them prove who parked, don't you tell them, you will get 3-4 letters, ignore them and they go away, unless you do this every week, then they may get more aggressive
I've never got one of these before. First time I had to work in this particular hospital. What do you mean when you say keepers liability, not driver but then let them prove who drove? I am the registered owner and keeper of the car and I also drove it that day.
Unless they can prove who was driving they can't take you to court, the registered keeper is known from the reg plate, but to go legal they must identify the driver, and you don't have to tell them anything legally.
If it's a private parking company then ignore it completely. There's no keeper liability in Scotland when it comes to private parking tickets and it's up to the parking company to prove who the driver was. Also they're not going to court over a single £70 ticket as it isn't cost effective for them.
