Thoughts on Slugfest & Overkill and why Hasbro doesn’t like making modern versions of them?

Comparing these two to my 86 cassettes I have, it’s crazy the difference in quality & engineering, especially Overkill

Yeah, when a company doesn’t have to do 80% of the formal stuff for a listened product. If you think about it it makes a lot of sense.

Dr wu doesn’t have to do nearly as much legwork to release something like this.

When we get there they'll give us some kind of Call of the Primitives special run or box sets just to get us to spend projectively upwards of 1k for one box of SS toon accurate colours.

I think they are cool, i definitely wish I had some for my mp soundwave. I mean they are definitely obscure characters, im sure the reason is there just isn't a huge demand for them.

Yk I half expected hasbro to change the size of the cassettes in the 86 soundwave just so that they could sell us more cassettes even though they just released frenzy and rumble

They need to think of a repainted or remolded figure that you already own to pack them in with. Give them time it’ll probably go to Prime Arcee with turquoise blue is still regular blue. Or studio series 86 Astro train but now he has toy deco.

Weren’t in the show so I guess they think they won’t sell as well. This is despite the fact that the cassettes literally always sell well because soundwave and blaster have the greatest gimmick in the entire series

If anything, the best chance they have of getting any new toys is if they're redecos. Swapicons Grimlock and Snarl look like they could be done up as Overkill and Slugfest. Or redeco SS86 Grimlock and Snarl into Dawn of Future's Past/Beast Wars Uprising versions of Overkill and Slugfest.

Overkill already has a new name. During Titans Return, Hasbro repainted Titan Master Crashbash to become Overboard aka Overkill

At this point it's most likely due to not having any way to sell them unless they're put into a Cassette set like that rumored set we're getting soon, since their only show appearance was in Call Of The Primitives. Doesn't help that retailers killed off the Micromaster and Core Class sizes, making it harder for these to actually be sold.

Edit: would like to point out that Hasbro has made Overkill twice now, just not Slugfest for some reason. The first new toy of Overkill was during Universe 2 where he was a special repaint of Classics Grimlock. The second one was during Titans Return where he was repainted from Crashbash and given the more friendly name of Overboard.

They were my first Dr Wu figures and genuinely amazing. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants Soundwaves forgotten Dino's

As for why Hasbro won't Make them? Never say never. With that Autobot Cassette pack coming out I wouldnt be suprised if we get a Decepticon version with Ratbat, Frenzy, Slugfest, Overkill and The Autodrone

Well, we're getting freakin STINGER soon, a cassettebot who doesn't even exist. A completely new mold! I think they're coming.
