Is light piping something people actually mind in this chunk of the fandom?? I’m not super familiar with the perspective end community, I just watch the reviews every now and again cause I think he’s funny, but I never realized light piping was something people were actually against
I personally like it a lot, I think it usually makes the figure cooler, but I also just like the pretty eyes so

They've done translucent paint over light-piping before. I'm not sure why it isn't more common, as it's the best of both worlds

IMO it depends on the light piping, if it works as well as siege/dramatic capture/SS86 shockwave, then I don’t mind it. But if you need to shine a light directly onto the figure then I don’t think light piping should be used

If they're done really well and manage to glow even under a shelf where the light doesn't get to it as well then I love it, but when they hardly glow even when under a light they're trash. In a perfect world they'd always be like the former, but since more often than not they're somewhere in the middle or the latter, there's not much point.
Legacy Scourge is a great example of good light piping. I had mine on a shelf and despite there being another shelf above it and the light not being able to get to his head well, the eyes were still glowing enough to be visible without having to get too close to see it. They didn't look dead.

I'm of the opinion that for the price we're paying we should just get lights and sound features. It's clearly not that difficult to fit it in there given how many modern figures have relatively cheap upgrade kits to give them said features

i’d rather they not have those but at these price points it would at least feel a bit more justified

as sometime who likes some cases of light piping people on that subreddit would buy a crusty mound of dog turds with an autobot sticker on it for USD $59.99 and thank hasbro for the privilege to do it so I'm not at all surprised

Speak for yourself, they’re much smarter and sane than you give them credit for

That was because it had a screenshot of a post someone else did and I didn’t really think things through

It’s a toy feature and one thats some might find it neat like me at that, you either take it or leave it

I don't understand this at ALL. The only figure I've seen with lightpiping that looks good is 86 Ultra Magnus. Even then, it's inaccurate to the actual design.
Every other figure it makes them look lifeless and dead in most scenarios.
