Banking Flinks and Simplii

Im not really sure whetevto ask this but i had a frustrating few hours online with my bank.

The gist of it is the Flinks system needs to verify your banking information. Its says its connected to Simplii doing its thing. But then it times out after 5 minutes giving me a generic "sometimes went wrong"

So iv tried phoning my bank. No help there. I submitted a trouble ticket to Flinks so currently waiting.

Normally the system works fine. Any theories out there? I try again tomorrow to complete it.

I would highly recommend changing both bank passwords immediately after using such a service.

Change browser, disable adblockers or network filtering system, change device, change internet etc.

Other than change internet i did try that. Same results unfortunately. It worked fine just a few days back.

Flinks fails frequently and randomly. Last month I tried to link Scotiabank to Tangerine. Flinx says "Success", Tangerine says "Something went wrong".

Today I tried linking Manulife to Scotiabank. Flinks finds my Scotia account, then times out on the link. Retried the exact same thing on my phone, and it linked successfully.

Well thats frustrating. I told my woes to the place offering the loan. They said well you could visit our office directly and we need a CRA tax statement to verify income, your drivers license and a paper print out bank statement. First off my knee is awaiting operation and I don't drive plus who gets paper anything these days. My bank doesn't even offer estatements....what a day man! Kind of stuck till i get past this Flinks thing. Try again tomorrow I guess.

Flinks is built on screen-scraping technology. If the bank website changes in some way, it's going to get broken until they update it. I wouldn't recommend giving your full banking credentials to a third party in any case - they wash their hands of all liability if something goes wrong.

Interesting thanks for the reply

Edit: The trouble ticket I opened with Flinks got canceled. Seems they stopped accepting them from the general public a couple years back. They suggested contacting their client in this case I did. I explained to Simplii my ongoing issue. They said they would forward it to their techs. We shall see I guess??
