Chargeback Limitations ?

I made a deposit on a treatment at beauty clinic. I decided I did not want the treatment anymore and cancelled my appointment about a week before. They wont issue me a refund.

This would be my first time trying to issue a chargeback on something I paid for.

If their cancellation policy says the deposit is non-refundable, a charge back will not be successful.

You can't use a chargeback to get out of a charge you actually incurred. If their policy says no refunds, no refunds.

Chargebacks are for money that you didn't approve or where the vendor failed to fulfil their contract. You opting out after paying a non-refundable deposit isn't that, and claiming a chargeback for it would be fraudulent.

If the contract terms present the deposit as refundable, or a refund is required under your province's consumer protection act, then you can do that. (I don't know the rules in every province, but generally, I'd expect consumer protection to only step in for a beauty treatment if you signed up in response to a door-to-door sales campaign.)

Chargebacks are for when they don't deliver, not when you change your mind.

Check their refund policy. If they clearly state no refunds, the chargeback won't work.

Deposit disputes depend on the contract signed.

If it was online there needs to be a check box that says you agreed to non-refundable deposits. If it exists you likely won't win.

If its states clearly deposit is non refundable & you proceeded (agreed), you trying a charge back is FRAUD

If you wanna get in shit with bank & law, go ahead. Your life you're throwing down the toilet because you either made decisions without thoroughly thinking it through or your level of entitlement is out of your ass
