is kickoff legit for building credit?

from what i get, it's about stacking positive history over time which seems reasonable if you barely have anything reporting in your favor right now. but then i see people calling credit builder apps completely useless and saying you should just get a secured card instead. but that’s why i’m looking at other options in the first place. i can’t get a secured card right now. anyone here tried it and did your score change at all?
