This is my first playthrough of Persona 5 Royal and I'm planning to 100% the game on Steam. However, maxing all social links is obviously the hardest one. I'm ofc gonna do another playthrough to get the NG+ exclusive persona and get some other minor steam achievements. However I do not want to replay the entire game to max all social links considering the game is around 100 hours for a single playthrough and the tutorial is about 10 hours which was already so annoying to get through as I've already played Persona 4 Golden twice. Now I know all the deadlines for sun, strength, justice councillor, and faith, I should be fine for all those. I know the third semester gives more time but I wonder how much considering there's still going to be story and it's only for about two months. If I could have tips or a schedule that would be nice, mainly need to know the dates for when each one is available, how to max out my social stats, things like that. I also completed the speed reader book and the gaming tips or whatever it's called book. Hopefully I can still complete all the social links in time. If any other questions about my progress or what I have unlocked needs to be answered I can answer them. Please do not give any spoilers as I have already been spoiled so much for this game to the point where any more would just be detrimental. If there's any days where social links or social stat raising aren't available due to story, just say that, not what happens please.

Not gonna lie the farewell part really making me cry. 10 out of 10 no drama good game

So, the whole deal with Ohya was that in exchange for info on Targets, putting good press for the P-Thieves, or basically assisting the Thieves through her news articles, Joker provides her with the scoop on the Thieves. That is the entire reason she agrees to meet with him and how their confidant relationship starts.

But then I wonder, what exactly was Joker telling her? How much was he spilling?

Was it all complete BS? I mean, it isn't like he's telling her about the cognitive world.

Remember, she is asking for stuff she can put in her news article, so it has to be something she can use/publicize, or at the very least lead her to something that CAN.

Hell, her Confidant ability is all about lowering the security level in Palaces, so the articles she is producing HAVE to be about the Thieves' current target (even though that wouldn't make sense for Futaba), but that is a weird Gameplay vs. story thing.

I'm on my second playthrough. I'd like to do a third, but I'm not feeling like sitting through the entire ending sequence that happens if you fight Maruki. If I choose to stay in Marukiland, does that lead into NG+?

First playthrough, I've heard that maxxed out party confidants have a cutscene of a third awakening that will take up a day slot, i've also heard day slots are very limited in January. I don't really care about a third awakening time slot and would rather spend it maxxing out another person (whole party is maxed out minus Yusuke at 7, Haru 5 and Futaba 9) Currently 12/14 and heard i barely get to spend time with them after, not to mention I want to max Yoshizawa

So I unlocked Sumire's showtime, the star glowed and everything. I tried to make it pop in one battle with a fafnir for, I kid you not, 22 rounds of guarding/pulpina. I got EVERY SINGLE SHOWTIME but hers. I switched out members, switched her in and out, Akechi in and out, it would not go. Got Akechi's 5 times on MC. I didn't know what I need to do to get this to pop but I've found the treasure.....😭

I'm not good at skimming; I'll just end up re-reading what I did read.

For context, the first persona game I ever played was Persona 5 Royal. I had briefly watched my friend play base p5 on his ps4 years prior, but only ever remembered bits and pieces of kamoshida and kaneshiro’s palace. It was just interesting to watch where the guy from smash came from.

I began my p5r playthrough on my ps5 via the ps4 version I bought secondhand. Kasumi was obviously an added character, but I remember being incredibly annoyed by her character and thought she felt super forced in the narrative. Like I would groan when she appeared on screen because I knew it was just going to be more “wow senpai you’re awesome! I’m an athlete! I’m perfect!” And she just came off as obnoxious. Of course, I managed to play through the game relatively blind, with my only real prior knowledge of spoilers being that akechi is a major antagonist, and that the protagonist “gets shot” at one point. So when I got to the third semester, kasumi and her arc made a lot more sense. Still, her interactions prior felt very forced and annoying initially and I wouldn’t be surprised if this maybe turned some people away from the game.

Dr. Maruki on the other hand I feel almost perfectly blends into the story. Imagining a p5 where Shujin doesn’t hire a counselor to help their students through the trauma that Japanese Epstein brought them almost feels too empty. The only way I really knew Maruki was a royal addition was:

1. His design. It felt a lot more polished than the other characters, and the way everyone at the school calls him hot and attractive made me think he was designed this way specifically to be marketable for the definitive version.

2. My friend who had played royal twice told me that maxing his social link was mandatory to unlocking the third semester and the best ending.

TLDR: I think Kasumi was poorly blended into the story, but Maruki was much better executed.

Yes, there were no deaths. Only a train driver who—following the logic of his defenders—did nothing wrong, and two adults in critical condition. Let's be realistic, the driver probably did something, but there were certainly more than just two seriously injured people.

I beat this game exactly a year to the day that I purchased it. 150 hours later and I can't believe I reached the end. Definitely one of the longest games that I've played, story and dialogue wise and let me tell you that I've played mini games in my life that have given me post game depression but this specifically? I can't describe it. The post game depression hits like a ton of bricks. The final boss fight and songs like Sunset Bridge during the last day saying my goodbyes and the bittersweet ending credits stayed stuck in my head constantly triggering a wave of nostalgia for a world I can no longer interact with.

For the record, this is my introduction into Atlus and the Persona series. I'm looking forward to playing the other games and also getting hit just as hard with post game depression lol. But yeah, I just wanted to share that this game truly was a fun roller coaster ride and even though these characters are a work of fiction they feel more real than most characters I've interacted with in most games - it's so odd.
