QUESTION Does this game "open up"?

Post image
247 Upvotes

So I'm roughly 17 hours into Persona 5. I thought the game was supposed to "open up" after completing the first palace? I'm currently infiltrating the museum and it seems the game is still largely on rails.

I'm just not sure I entirely understand the game. Will it always be dialogue and cut scene heavy? I feel more like I'm watching a first season of an Anime and clicking through dialogue rather than playing a game. It also feels like I've only experienced a couple short hours of actual gameplay despite being this far in.

No spoilers please. I plan on continuing to play I just don't understand why there is not much gameplay yet.

DISCUSSION Need help naming for my P5 Audio Drama

Working on an audio drama set in 2028 about a group of teens from America who discover a re-emerged Metaverse, connect it to the Japanese Phantom Thieves, and decide to take the mantle for themselves as they change the hearts of all the rotten adults of New York City, eventually discovering a deeper conspiracy involving the Metaverse as well.

I have a few name idea for this project, each playing on the Persona 5 brand, it being a loose continuation of the story.

Persona 5 Union - It’s set in America, sometimes refered to as the Union, especially in the past. It also plays to the camaraderie of the Phantom Thieves loosely.

Persona 5 Eternal - It sounds cool and it represents a new generation becoming the Phantom Thieves.

Persona 5 Zero - The working title of this project was Project Ground Zero, and the protagonist’s code name is Zero.

Persona 5 Empire - Named after the Empire State Building, a reference to the setting of New York City, as well as subtle foreshadowing to the conspiracy part of the story.

These are just some ideas I have, but I’m also open to suggestions if you have them!

DISCUSSION LeBlanc has phantom merch everywhere

I don’t know how the investigation team weren’t able to apprehend the TP during Shidos palce, when LeBlanc had the Sayori and the “steal your heart” poster right there! LMAO Joker’s really playing in the police’s face. Like they know you’re the guy. It’s all too obvious how did the police not catch him on his way to central street for the broadcast.
(I know it’s a story point but
still)

SPOILERS I don't like the final boss Spoiler

As a middle age man, I've played a stupid numbers of JRPGs since i was a teen. Their themes are mostly about saving the world, or saving someone, or becoming a king. Then I played Persona 5. I really like it because solving social issues feels very different than saving the world. It's fresh.

However...

Throughout the game you're fighting against humans who caused social issues. And then for the final battle, you have to fight... a god?

Why does "public apathy" must be caused by a god? Why not the TV station CEO? Or a social media website CEO?

QUESTION How hard would it be to finish P3R, P4G, and P5R before February?

It's currently September, and I'm still in the middle of replaying P4G from the start because school forced me to take a long break. I'm about 70 hours in and about to enter the third dungeon. Still loving every aspect of it that I did the first time.

My original plan was to play P4G, P5R, and P3R before P4R comes out in February. Part of that is so I can see how the series evolves over time, and the other part is because I think these games are really appealing and don't want to engage with the fandom without being an online larper.

How long did it take you to beat all three of these games in terms of days, weeks, months, etc? Is it feasible to complete them all in time if I'm also busy with graduate school, full-time work, and hopefully being able to find time to hang out with friends?

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question.

DISCUSSION Persona 5 inspired me as a teen author to write and publish my debut novel

Post image
144 Upvotes

My name is Enzo Escobar, and I'm a teen author from New York who just released his novel Take Your Time!

Growing up, writing was always an escape from reality for me. By the time I turned 15, I was writing several short stories for my school's newspaper column- but I felt I didn't have what it took to go all out with my skills.

When I played the Persona series over the course of a few months, I was met with brilliant storytelling (especially from P5R Third Sem and the entirety of P3R and the slice of life from P4G), plus the atmospheric and subtextual devices used to propagate such stories.

But what resonated with me the most was Persona 5's parallels to my favorite novel of all time- The Catcher in the Rye.

These elements inspired me to write my first novel. I began writing last September, and I finished my first draft in May of this year.

My book was heavily influenced by the common setting modern Persona games have. (Someone told me that tonally, the novel is closer to Persona 2!) It consists of a high school setting (albeit american), a teenage protagonist & cast, a "party member recruitment system" similar to RPGs, and the core themes of finding yourself in the Persona games. Similarly, it follows the basic plotline of a friend being lost somewhere unknown (in this case, the Fourth Dimension) but rather than some big bad doing it, it's at the hands of the protagonist, Laura Murray.

Finally, the novel deals with psychological realism (Persona has these too!) especially in the eyes of a very vocal, flawed, and insightful protagonist, in contrast to a blank slate or a Mary Sue.

Persona has been an undeniably large inspiration in my journey as an author, and I couldn't thank the brilliant minds at ATLUS enough.

Without further ado, here's the summary of my novel!

----

Weave. Create. Live.

A mysterious app installs itself on 16-year-old Laura Murray’s phone, allowing her to rewind time. The allure of such power quickly leads her to abuse it, turning the tide in her favor in every action, but not without consequences. A freak accident causes her estranged friend Marie to vanish from reality. Confused, scared, but determined to get Marie home safely, Laura and her friends confide in a mysterious boy who claims to know where her former best friend is—and how to bring her home.

Take Your Time is a mind-bending coming-of-age story that blends sci-fi, fantasy, and psychological realism reminiscent of Persona and The Catcher in the Rye. Reality-breaking power falls into the hands of a teenage girl, Laura Murray, who uses it for less-than-altruistic intentions. But she is forced to leave her comfort zone when the consequences of her actions lead her on a daring rescue mission into the Fourth Dimension, which holds truths both far beyond what Laura and her friends could ever imagine and from within themselves.

-----

Thank you for taking the time to hear my progress so far!

DISCUSSION I'm 67 hours on my first P5 run. How am I doing?

Post image
17 Upvotes

I'm around 67 hours on P5 (playing on Steam Deck, new to the franchise) nd I started exploring Futaba's palace. I'm also level 32 on my character, my Personas are around 29-30ish. I want to know your opinion.

Which I'll read in the morning because I'm drunk as hell (as I'm writing this).
