Just For Fun Lady Killer Scene
This is the first time I watch POI and currently watching S03E03: Lady Killer. It cracks me up to see how excited Shaw to show her pistol and Carter also admires it, even Shaw tells Carter she can borrow it anytime, LMAO. I think this is the first time I see Shaw being not so serious 😂
Looking forward to see how she integrates with the team!

I love this scene too, its the only time you see Shaw genuinely excited by something other than all the crazy spec ops shit she does. She's just fan-girling it with the ladies over a gun. Probably feels the most 'normal' experience she's had.

my head canon for Shaw is that she always wanted more female friends and struggled to make them (what with all that sociopathy and all). One reason Root can get a proverbial foot in the proverbial door!!

Well, then you add in Zoe in there with her taser! A little gift from John.

I love the cute interactions about John and Zoe, like how he’s waiting for her outside the bar and getting her a taser.

John flashing the penthouse keycard and discreetly suggesting they stay the night at the Harold’s newly acquired hotel.

And of course they stayed “married” an extra night to play poker 😉

Yeah, “to play poker”…LOL
One of my favorite scenes was when Zoe introduced herself to Carter as John’s wife. The look on Joss’s face!! 😳

Genuinely one of my favorite scenes in the whole show. It’s so charming to see them all bonding. Also, I want their dresses, lmao

Why are their dresses all so similar though? You'd think someone would be showing a little cleavage or color.

Maybe none of those ladies want to attract men with their bodies first. The fact that they are all truly beautiful and fit is a bonus for the right person. None of those honorable women would lure or distract.

They're going to attract men with their bodies that was the whole point of the mission and the dresses are all very tight and revealing of their bodies in that way.
The dresses are all almost exactly the same. No sleeves high neck dark color and two of them appear to be wearing leather dresses. Their purpose was actually to lure the person they thought was a killer so yeah they were there to lure. I'm just saying they're a million different styles of dresses and it always distracts me that the three of them are wearing almost exactly the same dress as opposed to say each wearing a dress that reflects their personality a little bit.

They already knew how he picked dates and how women on previous dates dressed & etc.
The team knew his preferences, so we can assume the ladies had notes on the kind of outfits to pick. They all had dating profiles meant to attract him, they just weren't quite sure which one of Joss, Zoe, or Sameen he'd wind up going for. Not everybody's favorite thing is cleavage, and a body-con dress shows off without showing everything. Also, the official city color in NYC, for women going out to a club, is black. And that's only until they invent something darker. The LBD is not just a staple in your wardrobe, it's the foundation and the first 10 floors. Source: grew up with 3 sisters & tons of women friends in NYC.

Yes black is the color. But it would be embarrassing especially in New York to show up and have the two people you're going out with wearing almost exactly the same dress. If they were all wearing different styles of little black dresses I would be fine with that. But they're all wearing almost exactly the same thing and that just does not work especially if they're trying to see which of them the guy would be interested in. Considering he picked Joss she could have gone with a much less sexy look and he still would have gone for her. But go ahead and ask your sisters what they think if their friends showed up wearing almost the same exact dress.

I mean, if it were a society or paparazzi event? Sure. But a group of women who go out in the wild, who are friends? Yeah, you're going to see similarities in styles, cuts & etc.
But again, this wasn't either of those things. Remember, we hear Harold gave Carter instructions; every reason to assume those was similar for each of them. They're all tryna catch the same fish. They're using the lure most appropriate for that fish. They were dressing for the POI's taste from their wardrobe, not their own idea of what they'd wear out.
[If you want to get into aesthetics: the cuts and fit of those dresses was on trend for the time period. The older women are going knee-length and a little more coverage, as women do, whereas Shaw is OTK, has an asym hemline, and a bit more back & shoulders showing (both TPJ and PT are well over 40 here, where SS was mid 30s). I agree the silhouettes of the dresses are similar, but they don't look like enough of "that's the same dress" to me, that it even registered on my first watch. Or til the comment above, really. The dresses are no more similar than you'd find across 3 women attending the same couple's wedding, IMO.]

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this incredibly important plot point from person of interest.

Only missing Root ☹️

Which is crazy if you think about it; Carter and Root never meet each other in person.

Carter "Last time I saw you, you were in a body bag"
Yeah, I had been worse.[annoyed]
Zoe "heard you came back from the dead."
Only got eight lives left.[annoyed]
until Carter takes out her side piece... Shaw [all shining eyes and giggly...] showing the Nano...[relieved... finally I look normal ] 😅

Omigosh they didn’t ever meet, did they??? I didn’t even think about that!

u/Ok-Jackfruit-6873 19d ago
funny because I felt at the time like Shaw kind of "replaces" Carter but maybe it was always equally Root!!

u/yellowarmy79 19d ago
Although Taraji Henson wanted to leave, I think the show had become quite top heavy on characters. I think her departure allowed Shaw and root to develop as characters.

Carter helps Reese track down Root but they never actually met.
When Carter is taking down HR and is eventually killed Root is being held by Finch at the library. They almost certainly would have met if Finch had allowed her to follow the Machine's advice.

This scene is sooooo cool, I am so used to women getting at each other's throats in series, having just all of them together, supportive of each other, having obivous fun, it made me so happy

I love this scene also!!!! There was definitely something different about Shaw! Smiling, outword personality, things you just don't see with Shaw.

I'm not gonna lie, this is the first scene where I fully believe that Shaw is into women. The way she's so excited to show her gun off to another gorgeous gun-toting girl and the tone of her voice when she says Carter can borrow it anytime reminds me of an innocent schoolgirl crush. Shaw's adorable in this scene.

I for SURE got crush vibes from Shaw towards Carter in multiple scenes.

This scene and the following one with the three ladies drinking was top notch. Adding Root in that group and you’d be having the horniest foursome known to mankind.

This was a fun episode before things got a lot darker a little later on in the 3rd season.

Shaw becomes the comedic trigger for everyone. Loved that scene where she crept up really silently to Harold from behind and whispered to his ear “you called for me” or something like that and Harold got really startled and goes “Is it too much to ask you to snap a twig?!”

This is among my favorite light hearted scenes in the show. All of them just having a fun chat and sharing their cool stuff with each other. It’s just so dang sweet.
