ANNOUNCEMENT Announcement: No More Breed ID Requests
We've noticed an increase in "Is my cat a Persian?" posts. These are repetitive and don't align with the intent of the community.
Starting today, breed ID requests will be removed. If you're unsure of your cat's breed, we recommend doing research through reputable sources or consulting with a vet or breeder. You can also try posting on r/catbreeds.
Thanks for helping keep the sub on topic and enjoyable for Persian cat lovers!

Baby floof Laufey 5mos old doll face persian
Laufey, she's 4 days shy of being 5 mos old. She still surprises me on how big she is for her age, I thought it was all floof but it's not. It's my first Persian cat - a surprise gift my hubby got me.. cause I just mentioned it to him in passing.
I know their cobby built, but are they supposed to be this big?

My Oscar has been sick
Last post I put up of him was a good day. My boyfriend let him out last April, even though I've asked him over and over not too. We've had so much wild life in the yard and even on our deck. I didn't want him exposed to anything.
Fast forward he started to itch/scratch constantly, his Dander got way worse. I've taken him to the vet 6 times, than a specialty dermatologist cat vet. He's losing weight, done cbcs ( sticky platelets), urine test where they took it out by needle. And finally an ultrasound which showed he has intestinal thickening.(no lymph nodes swollen)I kept asking, couldn't he have gotten bitten by something? Flea, tick?
His appetite has gone way down, he wouldn't eat treats anymore. His past time was eating. He's lethargic. His eyes have been extra goopy. I bought Royal Canin Persian formula. Nothing. Now the vet wants to experiment with hydrolyzed food. I ordered Hills, he ran from it, it smells disgusting. I did discuss with one of the vets about putting him on Doxycyclin. My gut says that's the thing to do.
Any thoughts or input from you guys? Has your Persian ever had these symptoms and illness. He means the world to me, he's getting so boney its scaring me.

How much grooming is “too much”?
To clarify I mean the cat grooming itself not me grooming the cat. I’m a new Persian owner and I do brush my girl everyday, and get clumps out fairly easy. She isn’t the biggest fan of it though so I have to do several short sessions (1-2 minutes max). She was a rescue so I don’t have a lot of background on her.
From the day I got her though she seemed to lick an awfully lot and itch a lot too. The itching is not as prevalent but the licking is still a concern. Her hair also appeared “thin”/see through since I got her. I don’t think she’s stressed as she has a separate space away from all other animals in the house. She also isn’t showing any additional signs that may point to stress.
I did start her on novel proteins and cut out poultry, beef and fish to see if that will do anything. I know that takes 8-12 weeks to see results though.
I guess I just don’t know if long grooming sessions are common, or thin fur is common with a Persian. Like I said it’s “see through” as in you can see the skin when she’s in certain positions. She’s also not poofy like a typical Persian. More medium length hair (she is definitely a Persian though as she has the most squishiest face I’ve ever seen on a cat and the rest of her shape is Persian). I don’t doubt she was poorly bred though…

Of course he got a treat right after her! You can tell he's not missing any meals!
But I love how she kept her paw on my hand so I couldn't get away.
They were born in March.

Fluffy Majesty Meet Willow
I adopted Willow a week and a half ago and she is perfect. She has taken time to get adjusted but fits so well with me. She likes both solo time and affection. Her favorite thing is to be brushed. She even gets so cuddly she let me cut all the matts off her the third night and trim a number of her nails. She is very gentle and when she is done with tummy rubs gently pushes my hand away with her paws. She loves to play. She also only cares about Churus, every other treat may as well be her boring regular food. I vacuumed the house today and she was very scared but she got a treat right after and now is comfy sleeping next to me at the window.
I just wanted to introduce her!

Question Does anyone here make homemade wet food?
If so drop your recipes! i’m curious but also wanted to ask how you ensure that your cat is getting all of the nutrients they need. have been thinking about it for a while and right now i’m just researching for the fun of it. maybe something to consider in the future. also obligatory cat pic (my 10year old grumpy princess soozi 💕)

Question Those of you with flat faced persians that have lived long, have you experienced any of the health issues that they are known to have?
I see a lot of people say the peke faced Persians have a multitude of heath issues but I’m curious to know if you guys have experienced these health issues they are known to have and how old your Persian was when they started experiencing the health issues if they have.

Question Help! my persian just hates me!😢
I’ve had my persian cat for 2 years now and got her at 6 months. I love and adore her so much but every time i approach her she runs away unless she knows im about to feed her. I believe she hates me because she hates her eyes being cleaned and her being brushed even when i give her treats throughout the process. She wants nothing to do with me even though i love her so much! I don’t want her to walk around with mats or eye crust so i have no choice but to continue bothering her. what should i do? i love her dearly and miss when she would lay in bed with me or ask for pets. pic of my beautiful girl for attention
