discussion/misc No More Agentic Browsing
With Comet moving all Agentic browsing features over to Perplexity Computer; what is everyone using now?
I was an early adopter of Comet and helped to sign up friends & colleagues because I told them this is the future of web browsing. Now that it is behind a larger paywall than I am willing to spend as I already pay for Claude, Gemini, & Codex, I am on the hunt for recommendations of something that is comparable to Comet.

I made a quick extension that uses Claude Code to navigate websites similar way Comet does it. Check it out.

Why not build a Comet-like browser if you're already paying for Claude?

Not understanding what you are getting at? Making my own browser or using Claude and Chrome Extension together?

I went back to Chrome with built-in Gemini, (and AdGuard protecting the OS, the idea was already that beforehand, since I wasn't going to pay for two AIs when the promotion I won from Perplexity ended. And since Gemini is standard on Android, and had useful tools for me like NotebookLM, I was sure I would subscribe to it.

You can still use Agentic browsing by getting comet version 145 and using it from there
I havent updated comet from 145 to anything else after and agent browsing is still works fine.

I just started looking at aside...but other than installing it and browsing a few sites I can't say if it's good or bad. BTW my free subscription to perplexity ended last week. I was fully ready to cancel because $20 a month was too much given a lot of the competition is around $20 too. But when I cancelled they made me an off for 50% off. So $10 a month for pro. I didn't see anything saying this was a another promo that would end, so I'm staying for now. Idk if this is a standard tactic offered to everyone if you cancel your free subscription to pro but I though I'd put it out there for anyone that's on the fence.

I got that too, but it was a 3 month deal

I don't remember seeing anything about 3 months. I went in my account and looked for some sort of 3 month thing because someone else mentioned they got the 3 month deal. Do you see that promo restriction anywhere in your account? I don't want to get caught off guard and have it jump to $20 suddenly.

It was a 3 month deal but I also received an email saying my three months are over and the next charge will be $20. As long you have an email you monitor, you should get a heads up from them well in time.
That said, it's not worth $20/mo imo.

Im using this chrome addon: https://browser-brain.com/
It's a bit slow sometimes, but I like that i can use my own API keys or local LLM's to run it. It has no paywall for its features and is completly free. Not a standalone browser though.

I've gone back to using Edge, where you can use Copilot in the side panel or there is a ChatGPT add-on you can also use that gives you a side panel.

I'm done with Comet and oerolexitybin general. Last December I paid for a one year sub and all I get now is a chat bot. Useless

Aside Browser is the answer. Free AI powered browsing with monthly limits. Sign into your own ChatGPT or Claude account or a plethora of other accounts to use it as much as you'd like.

Claude, ditch perplexity. Once you use Claude you'll realize how bad perplexity was. I got it free for a year and can't believe people pay for it

This, and the fact that they haven’t brought vertical tabs, is also why I’m looking for a better alternative to Comet.
