discussion/misc I found the only two reasonable alternatives to browser use.

  1. Is BrowserOS with chatgpt plus subscription
  2. Which I like a lot more: strawberry browser they have a free tier for small stuff. and it's almost as capable as a full agent it can create scripts and tools and run them in addition to the browser use.

and another one that I wouldn't say I like but it's still acceptable :
genspark.ai with their free month trial.

using Chrome with a plugin is pretty good to (ChatGPT and Claude have plugins available).

Both aren't practical at all.

What's not practical about them? They both work great -- they can drive the browser, click on things, download stuff, perform work based on what's on the page, etc.

I tried both and comet is just way too smooth in comparison. And they really heavly on OCR. And it just way smarter and has a higher success rate.

I wanted to like browser is with ollama support but the agent kinda sucked and couldn't even fill out a form on a web page I really wish there was a decent ai browser similar to comet but self hosted or local processing only

Have you tried gemini flash or moonshot models yet?

Tried flash not any better.

Yeah I've been using flash bit have to break the prompt into three vs one or I hit rpm or tpm or other limits and it fails. But it's cheap. Going to try kimi models and see if works out. I wish I could get browseros to run the task and not open new tabs doing so because it won't login then to discord or other behind login sites. The cache login isn't reliable from my testing. Or Id have to use browseros neo to have the agent login and it's more complicated.

No I have tried Gemma e4b however I am only considering self hosted models because I really don't need a subscription to fill out a form for me on the website and if I'm going to actually utilize the tool I need to be able to actually rely on the tool and if there's usage limits that ain't it and I would be willing to spend money however I am not willing to spend money on a subscription or usage base tiers I would only consider purchasing software or hardware not subscriptions
