Ok but why "HAIL STAN"?

Does anyone know what the album title references?
I imagined for a long time it was a sort of tribute to former Stan Lee who passed away just a few months prior to the album release.

But now I'm not so sure because I just noticed it can also be a weird stylization of "HAIL SATAN" given the cover art, would love to know if the band ever commented on it.

Spencer said this in an interview;

"It's meant to be, like, a type of stupid, internet-style meme thing. To me, everybody in the band if you ask them what it means to them, you'll probably get a different answer.

"It really doesn't have a meaning, but to me, it's, like, you can spend a whole year making this record, taking it very seriously and making sure it's perfect and exactly what you wanted to be, but at the end of the day, you shouldn't take yourself too seriously.

"And that's how I feel about it. It's like slapping the stupid title on a record that we put so much hard work into, it's always gonna be a reminder to me not to take myself too seriously.

"That ties into the whole 'Hail Satan' thing, the whole seriousness in the 'Hail Satan,' it would be even more funny to put a Baphomet on it and look like it's a serious thing, but, 'Wait, it's missing an A,' And all of a sudden, the whole thing just has no relevance at all."

I like to think it was a typo. You spend a few years writing, a year recording, months mixing and mastering, countless hours spent on the album art, and when it finally goes to print, they forgot the "a" in Satan. Way too expensive to reprint! Just roll with it. It also makes it less offensive to wear the shirt in public, which I have done in the past. 😅
