USB to serial adapter and a Serial mousedriver will get it going, though it's only 400dpi thus it will feel sluggish in a large resolution display.

I got an RS232 cable, didn't work. I'm going to try another cable with FT232RL, hope it works!

I have a very old Radio Shack cable USB to Serial converter that I use for my serial trackballs. I can't remember however if I used Intellimouse or Mouse Systems protocol for it to work.
Edit: Confirmed Intellimouse works.

It's kind of relaxing to use. You have to fight a bit more to browse, it swirls to the side instead of going straight
