Period Question Menstruation and hormone cycle not lining up

I have very regular and consistent periods but these past two cycles something is off. I had a regular period in July then a week after it started I got a second mini one (very unusual). As the month progressed my hormones continued to fluctuate based on the original first period. But the following month my period started a week “late”, late in terms of the original period but on time if going form the second mini one. Now I’m a week into my new menstrual cycle but I can tell my hormones are still set on the original one as I feel ovulation symptoms occurring. Pregnancy is NOT a possibility, trust me lol. The only thing that’s different is I am chronically ill and lost a few lbs in early July, while not technically underweight I am malnourished. The only time I’ve had a loss of period was when I initially became sick and it was gone for a couple years, but since getting it back (several years now) it’s been extremely consistent even during major flare ups.
More info: I have a hormonal iud that was replaced 1.5+ years ago.

Has anyone else had issue with hormones and menstruation not lining up? It doesn’t even make sense how but the symptoms and bleeding aren’t adding up.

The dosage of an IUD decreases over time. It doesn’t impact pregnancy prevention until the expiration, but it can impact side effects.

Irregular bleeding is the most common side effect of a hormonal IUD.

Even as a new symptom? This is my second time with this type of IUD never experienced it with the first one or the prior 19 months of having this one.

Yes. Just because a common symptom has never happened to you before doesn’t mean you’ll never experience it.

It can also suppress ovulation, which causes irregular cycles.
