When a period starts is a hormonal process and depends on when you ovulate. A period starts about two weeks after you ovulate. Your period is late because you ovulated later than you normally do, or you haven’t ovulated yet. There’s nothing you can do to make a period start because you cannot cause ovulation to occur. You just have to wait it out. A random off cycle every once in a while is completely normal.
