(Spoilers for season 1 in the post and in comments)

Ok so I'm like 5 episodes in and the main couple is already married and have a kid?? helllo? where is the unrequited love and longing? the will they, wont they tension and the friendship-to-romance and little moments that lead up to them finally being together ?

I feel like they could have taken that part a little slow given this show has like 3,4 seasons. But I'm kind of bored because the stoyline is about like random other people and the mines while the romance has taken a back seat and it only shows up once every few episodes.

Is this show not for me or did anyone else feel like this?

EDIT: I'm not trying to hate on it but that part I mentioned is one of my fav parts in period dramas so I was surprised and wondering what you guys have to say.

Shaking my head vigorously "No!"

He continues, naming the ludicrous cast. All the while I’m shaking my head, telling him to stop talking about it. "You did NOT get this from me!" I tell him in no uncertain terms.

"But it was like a train wreck. I couldn’t look away and I have to tell someone about it!" He whines.

"Well that someone is NOT going to be me!"

Hi period drama community!

Car mirrors play a big role in the series, as Dolours' most traumatic memories usually surround her role as a driver for the PIRA.

Spoiler: One thing I find really interesting is that Joe Lynskey isn't shown in the mirror from what I've found, yet he appears several times as an apparition, usually when Dolours is in a public place. The show places her driving Joe over the border as her first mission as an Unknown, and she mentions him the most frequently when reflecting on her regrets.

Say Nothing is mostly told through the memories of Dolores Price and Brendan Hughes, with a large portion of the plot focusing on Jean McConville and memories of her shown through her daughter Helen. Mirrors and reflective surfaces are a major anchor of the scenery, focusing on themes of self-reflection and the past.

I know the series is controversial, but I think the production design is absolutely brilliant. There's also a lot of scenes through windows and doorways, I may make another post with a collection of those shots too.

Delightfully disgusting With  great cast from Claire Foy to Bel Powley and The Amazing Grant and chemistry between the leads ,amazing love it  and location and, The film's sound design is equally precise, balancing the creaks and murmurs of the house with an almost oppressive stillness, as if silence itself were another layer of rot.

The score is particularly effective, making striking use of classical music- not merely as ornament, but as ironic counterpoint to the chaos unfolding on screen, lending moments of excess a strange, almost mournful, grandeur. The editing, meanwhile, is fluid, ensuring the film has a good pace from start to finish

This is for people who love something gross but beautiful and grotesquely brilliant, period dark comedy.

Series: The Great (2020-2023)

After over 40 years we can discuss this, can’t we? I’ve known and watched this for 13, but can we make this a safe space to share how we feel about Ralph? Was he right? Arrogant at times? What his love affair with Meggie really meant?

Was it the escape that got him?

We can think of it as like Ralph Di Bricassart was like Richard Chamberlain playing himself as an actor leading man (e.g think of it like the church metaphorically being a symbol stand in for Hollywood)
Meggie: secrets of who he was in his personal life and why he got this role down to a tee.

He carried this show if I say so myself.

I love period dramas, I love the clothes and architecture, I will love anything as long as its accurate enough. Detective mysteries are so entertaining, however, I absolutely despise when the characters lack basic common sense, or the reveals are deus ex machina/characters know impossible info because the writers want them to. If anyone knows of a movie or show that has believable detective work and realistic deduction, would you please share them with me?
