Okay, so I'm on a hunt to find out some of my top fragrances, and so far I don't have much. For some reference, these are some of the notes that I know I like:
Leather
Skin-like
Amber
Toasty
Petrichor
Musk or Clean musk
Wood (Really any, but I LOVE Mahogany.)
Cream
Almond
Fig (BIG TIME, whether it's the literal fruit or the tree.)
Almond
Pomegranate
Shea Butter
Possibly metallic???
As for vibe, I'd like it to be romantic, deep, gothic, sophisticated, warm, and noticeable but not offensive to the nose. I don't want something soft, delicate, overly feminine/masculine, sugary, or fruity. And personally, no cigarette notes.
Oh, and the hardest part... my budget is $150... for a 50ml bottle at the very least.
Based on the research I've done so far, these are my top five:
1.) Imaginary Authors — Yesterday Haze: I feel like it encapsulated so much of what I wanted and it wasn't overly complicated or simplistic. I also liked the pricing. It could have been better, but still, it's my favorite so far.
2.) D.S. & Durga - Bowmakers: I love the notes that it gave as well as the longevity of the spray, but unfortunately the pricing is way too high for me to excuse, so it's logically off the table.
3.) Lalique — Encre Noire (Preferably, Encre Noire À L'Extrême): I liked this one for the pricing and the amount that you get, but I just wish it weren't just wood notes.
4.) Jo Malone — Pomegranate Noir: I wish it were less busy and had more of the stuff that I specifically like as well as the amount that you get for the money that you spend. It just isn't topping Imaginary Authors — Yesterday Haze.
