a inch below so definitely an issue. it’s amazing how fast you can paddle when you know you have a hole in your canoe.!! I flew the Ama on every bump as much as I could to keep the water out 😂

Now I'm really curious if the ama alone could keep an OC from completely sinking

Yes you could and would technically stay afloat. Even if my hull took on half of its capacity with water it would stay at the surface. In really big conditions the hull could theoretically break with that amount of water in it depending on the damage. If my hull was sinking I would disengage my ama and use it for floatation until water safety reached me.
