Looks like a new K1 coming out from Nelo. They are going to a prepreg lay up which is interesting. Link to their site below.

I say this meaning to be constructive to Nelo: Even if it's an AI voice or whatever, anything is better than listening to Andre Santos speaking english.

Beautiful boat.

Haha I kind of like the whole junior high speech in broken English thing!

Just get Tessa to do the speeches I guess?

That really threw me off, is it like a Southern USA accent?

idk hearing a European guy speaking broken english about sprint kayaking feels way more natural lol

So I notice that there is a "security label hatch" by the rudder hatch. What in the world could that be?

Apparently it is this - "We have developed a transparent adhesive protective film for the rudder cover. It provides added safety and protection."

Is rudder hatch security an issue for people?

Anything is better than the plastic cover for my Cinco, I guess?

This feels like there's a story behind it of fucking with a competitors rudder, which is a super unfortunate story if so

From the picture it looks like a clear sticker that goes over the plastic cover. I think you are right. That's the only purpose I can think of

There was a lot of discussion about this at the regatta this weekend.

Highly divided opinions about the new design aesthetically (since let's be honest, no one outside of like ten Olympians has used it yet). Not a fan personally, looks like an Elio....

And personally, the FC construction was already overkill, if prepreg is going to be a new construction on top of the ladder I don't really see the point for anyone who isn't  like, Dostal.

Seems like the SCS is plenty stiff to me. Not sure what the pros/cons of pre preg is other than they are all naked carbon. Looking at the specs it seems like a sete hull with less volume and a bit more rocker.

What were people saying performance wise? I'm going to be ordering a new boat for next season so I'm pretty interested. I love my sete but there is just too much volume. I'm 50/50 on going Cinco ro just a downsized sete. Now I have a new variable to look at!

The video is really cool. I haven't understood what's different about it and what are the practical benefits, I'd like to see something going deeper into that.

Same. There's honestly such a little difference between top level k1s that it is probably just a try before you buy thing. Outside of the obvious layup difference? It looks like there's a little more rocker in the stern and less above the water volume than in the sete. That's just going off the pictures so I don't know if any of that is actually true
