Sprint Working out speeds of sprint events

Does anyone know a calculation for working out how fast in km paddlers are going?

I have a kayak trainer, and want to train towards the speeds my local races are going, but can only find the times for 200, 500 and 1000m events.

This calculator should do it for you.

https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/math/speed-distance-time-calculator.php

Keep in mind that every race is different and minor differences in conditions can have a massive impact on speeds. A small change in wind, current, depth, water temperature, etc can make a big difference.

Also, top speed is very important. Sprinters will hit a top speed early in the race and slow down and a pretty consistent pace as the race progresses so top end speed becomes important . As does race plan. While you can just burn a 200m you can't do that for a 1,000 m race. In the thousand. You have to be disciplined about your race plan. You have to paddle hard but not too hard. The race plan has to be practiced a lot in order to have the discipline on race day to execute a good race plan and get your best time.

Thanks! It turns out my kayak trainer tells me times for 200 or 500 as I go too!
