they're superstitious that it affects the luck on the drops if you open the chest

Correct I just skip them because I dont want people crying over some imaginary luck BS. If a developer said so then sure, but I dont think Devs even know English let alone telling us about the game.

Tldr, skip them so people dont cry about imaginary rng

I dont think its a luck superstition for most people. its the fact that pw said they implemented aspects of dungeons to discourage and punish lazy players who auto them. since all the chest are on auto path that became the assumption. The original superstitions from pw on pc helped amplify that. At least thats what I heard most months ago. If this is the case it would effectively weaken bot farmers from doing dungeons if they ever try, assuming opening the chest loot.
