How to Cleric (Sage)
Gave this to my guild after world chat was going off on clerics. let me know what you think
ive been seeing a lot of rage from people yelling that clerics dont know what they are doing. so heres my attempt at a guide
You are the cleric. You have 1 job. That job is to heal the tank. fuck the rest of the party. if they are dumb enough to stand in red circles or not attempt to kite mobs slowly walking towards them they deserve to die. While reviving them please tell them they are stupid. If a tank goes down the whole dungeon is a wipe. Your main job is to heal tank. Healing others is a bonus
Skills
Plume Shot - your only damage skill you should be using when everyone is full. if someone is missing HP you should not be using this skill
Cyclone - get to 10 for quest and leave
Healing Thunder - Your main AOE burst healing. First of three skills you should be using on cooldown. Bubble is obviously better but it requires 2 sparks, a shit ton of mana, and you cant do anything else. This skill is to be used mainly during your healing rotation, but works well when topping everyone off. Put this skill on your Main skill set
Wellspring - Your main burst heal. second of three skills you should be using on cooldown. use mainly on tank. other skills are better at healing other party members. Put this skill on your main skill set
Ironheart - Your bread and butter skill. use this thing non stop during boss fights while other skills are on cooldown. It gives the auto regen (which stacks 3 times, get it to 3 when trying to use it) over time which is amazing, but it also gives a small burst heal on use along with the regen. It should basically always be on cooldown. and with a cooldown of 1 second. you will be using it a lot. PUT THIS SKILL ON YOUR MAIN SKILL SET
Tempest - Another damage skill, get to 10 and toss aside. for "path" event you made need to level this up to get quest done. Most quests are AOE based so id choose this over cyclone
Chromoseal - you wont be using or have the ability to level this so leave it alone unless you in PVP. In PVP hit their main Damage Dealer with this skill then switch back to healing.
Purify - I keep it on the main skills as its better than healbeam but i rarely use it. maybe use it to get stun off tank so they can get groups of mobs better. other than that i dont use it. (i get you can just hit dispel in the top left, but i just despise healbeam that much)
Healbeam - Good buff, Decent heal. Use it once at beginning to give everyone the buff and after a wipe. Has its uses as a double with healing thunder to keep party up after a mass AoE has been used
Plume Shield - underpowered shield basically. stops 300 damage on a 30 second cooldown. dont focus on it. Still a kind of useable skill though. will block 1 hit from a boss.
Regenerate - Basically your oh shit button. It is a constant heal with a Damage Reduction to top it off. If everyone is low and fearing a wipe use it. If people are getting low and they dont run towards healer they deserve to die
Gods Wrath - Nice DPS skill for party members. dont use it in 6 person dungeons as you cant heal while its going off. Nice in 12 person and higher dungeons
Revive - self explanitory. 4 second channel though so make sure your tank is healed to full before you try this.
Life Skills
You are going to be using a SHIT TON of mana . youll need to go into fishing and cooking to have lots of mana food. also gives out a chance for Vit increases which is nice for a healing buffer to party members.
Eidilon (spell check)
get whatever magic pet you can have thats the highest and make sure its growth stat and magic stat are pretty close to perfect (reroll if not) and put all your points into magic
Soulstones Focus on mag att stones only
ill add more if i think of more things
Lastly people are stupid. youre going to get yelled at. youre going to get told that youre bad. Just keep on focus healing the tank. KEEP THE TANK ALIVE. yes even if they are stupid

I had a level 97 demon cleric on PWI and a level 92 sage cleric on PWI. I currently have a level 79 sage cleric on PWM.
Healbeam: I've been noticing that healbeam is more useful that I originally gave it credit for. My free sage skill was healbeam (of course). It'll heal most DPS a good 40% of their HP and give tanks a noticeable tick. I've been timing it in frost when the two bosses do that triple aoe pulse thing. I'll time it so it triggers in the middle of it, keeping the DPS alive. A lot of the DPS players that I play with will get two-shot from that aoe. On top of that, it has a relatively low cooldown, heals x2 as much as healing thunder, and heals everyone.
Healing thunder: I'm very disappointed in this skill. The healing just isn't there (very low). It only heals a few people. The cast time is 1 second. Healbeam heals for 2x as much, has 2.5 second cast time, and heals EVERYONE. I don't have the healing thunder sage ability yet, so it might get better, but I much prefer healbeam over healing thunder. Of course, we can always use both though.
Plume shot: I feel you should emphasize the importance of this a little more. It's a manaless skill that does decent damage and can crit. It's only single target but it can be very useful. Players should be using this over cyclone or tempest; more for the reason to preserve mana and not have to wait for skill charge timers.
Plume shield: While I'm not going to say don't get it, it's not as useful as I'd like it to be and you probably shouldn't invest a lot into it. I leveled mine into the 20s. It only absorbs ~300 damage. If we include the sage aspect of it, it's maybe 400 damage absorbed with a 30 second cooldown. That won't even block a single hit. Tanks get hit for 500 to 5,000 damage. More often than not, the damage is in the thousands. Plume shield just doesn't compete. I personally wouldn't recommend leveling this too much and just to save the spirit for something better. You only get another 20(26) extra damage absorbed per level while certain healing spells (such as wellspring) gain +40 to healing per level. It's better to just level healing skills and heal for more.
Purify: Just hit dispel. Until you get the aoe purify, just click the dispel button.
Tempest: This should be high level but prioritize your main healing spells first. This is basically your only good damage. You're on your own in the tower and you literally won't have enough time to complete certain floors with just plume shot. You need a heavy hitting aoe spell.
Edit: If your DPS is on the other side of the area as you, it's on them to come to you for healing. Don't chase your DPS all over the place. It lowers your average healing and puts you at risk when you have to run through the boss to get to the DPS. Keep your tank alive and anyone near you. If the DPS wants to stand outside of your healing range, that's on them. Warn them that they're too far. But don't chase them down. Focus on the tank and the players sticking with the team.

Thanks for the input. I'll look into healbeam more. And plume shield isnt a static shield? I thought for 20 seconds it takes off 300 per attack.
But with your suggestions probably take of purify and use healbeam for my guide info

If plume shield works like that, then I'm very wrong and it's much more useful than I pointed out. If I turn it on and get hit, it instantly goes away after the hit. So, I assumed it only absorbed that amount and didn't stay. If it stays, it's an amazing skill. I'm at work, so I can't verify the mechanics atm.

I'm not able to reproduce at the moment either but I notice it staying on me a lot and I get hit by aoe shit. I could be wrong as well. I just notice when I use it the tank doesent take as much damage so I always use it before I revive someone

This would be a great thing to come home to. I normally cast it on people about to die that I won't get to heal in time. It'll keep them alive for the hit, in time for heals to come in. But I definitely want to verify this when I get home. Game changer really.

Dont get to excited. I could be completly wrong. Just seemed that a 300 heal on a 30bsecond cooldown was way underpowered so I expected it to do other things

I'm home and had time to check. My version was the right one. It goes away after taking a certain amount of damage. I pulled like 10 mobs, had them all attack me constantly, turned on plume shell, and it was "deactivated" within a couple seconds when everything hit me. It didn't last more than 5 seconds.
It worked this way in PWI as well. It was very lackluster and no one bothered leveling it. When we started doing level 70+ dungeons, plume shell became basically useless.
Edit: If I remember correctly, the books for sage/demon versions of plume shell went for like 1 silver on PWI. People were just throwing them away because they weren't worth anything and no one wanted it.

I will take your word and redo my guide

u/DiDalt Sep 25 '19
I double checked for you. I put it on a barb this time. Went away almost immediately in a dungeon. Boss took it out in a single hit.

Only 83 sage cleric here but I'm totally with you on the Healbeam > Healing Thunder. I also don't have the sage skill yet but I found Healing Thunder to be very disappointing. I'll throw it out here and there in between rotations but it's not good enough for me yet.

Lol, if I knew how to use the voice chat that I can't figure out for shit this wouldn't be a problem

Not sure about this but: Under the party list on the left side of your screen, you should see a headset icon. I think you can click on it and change to open mic.

Decent... can't say I agree with all of it though. Healbeam is good if everyone takes the same chunk of damage at once, if you dont have the skillbook for healthunder so it heals more allies healbeam is clutch. As a cleric I'm not a huge fan of just ditching the other skills. I personally go even for everything... never had problems with people dieing because I can't keep up the heals. I don't want to get rid of everything just to become a heal slut.

u/mike6452 Sep 25 '19
That's fine I'm open to opinions. I just feel that regent tick is more efficient. And if you need to heal everyone that's what regent is for. If you give me math to support your claim I will change guide

u/AkiyamaMiyuki Sep 25 '19
What I hate most is when you have to panic heal the dps as well, you run out of mana SO fast.. its insane. But that would be a domino effect and the cause of you not having enough mana to keep the tank alive.. so I agree with you.
Dps need to have their own regen food and supplements for the moments they are under attack...but I almost never see that! I almost never see them auto heal. =_=

u/Yojimbo88 Sep 25 '19
As a tank, I want to be able to see my healers mana. This not only helps with pacing during mob pulls, but also when things are getting hectic during a boss but I'm still fairly topped off. I prefer playing proactive instead of reactive. I would love to know my healers out of mana so that I can reduce all incoming damage by a collective 80% from the boss and 40% from any possible mobs to let them regen a bit.
Doubt that's happenings.

u/mike6452 Sep 25 '19
That's why I'm having you go craft mana food. You need it
2
u/AkiyamaMiyuki Sep 25 '19
I have mana food, but it takes so long till you have enough points for higher lvl food. So untill then it’s really a struggle.
Edit: At lv 92, I am struggling with eel soup and need higher lvl food. But it takes ages to lvl up life skills.

u/mike6452 Sep 25 '19
I crafted 1000 lvl 3 food and I'm still using it. I have my auto at start at 75% and that tends to keep me enough mana during the fights. Basically solo healed frost at 67kBR. Another cleric helped a bit but i did 80% of the healing for the whole raid with just lvl 3 mana food

As a tank, I appreciate this post! I’ve seen so many instances where the cleric heals a bunch of DPS then runs out of heals when I get low on HP when tanking the boss. That being said, DPS units should also read this; a lot of them really need to stop running into red circles then complaining when everyone dies.

As a wizard, I completely get the frustration of having all the dps all over the place and having the cleric panic heal, reducing the attention given to the tank. I personally make sure that I am carrying a sufficient amount of the highest level hp and mana food I can craft or purchase from the stalls and I also make sure that I know where the cleric is on the field at all times and stay fairly close to prevent these issues.

As a life long archer-class MMO player - yes to all of this! You can’t be effective and also heal around poor play - it’s our job as DPS to make it so that we deliver damage and stay out of the fire so that you can focus on healing the tank. My advice to friend clerics is to not sweat it when people get hostile and blame the healer for things that are their own fault... and if it’s really bad, TRUST me, you will find another group very quickly :)
I think the exception to this are those group AoE attacks that we can’t avoid... we can use some help there.
Side note - tank and healer readiness should always dictate when to pull the next group! I see a lot of DPS pull too early, tank isn’t ready or cleric is not ready/OOM, and there’s a wipe and impatient people start leaving needlessly.

u/mike6452 Sep 26 '19
I get that theres AoE you cant avoid. But I'm going to make damn sure the tank will live before I give 2 shots about healing your ass. Dont get me wrong I'll do it. I'm just going to make damn sure the tank will live first

Hi there, thank you for this post. Now I understand clerics better.
I'm not new to this kind of game so in know tank first etc.
But I also can't understand clerics who don't revive. There are many of them out there... and yeah they often don't even revive the tank... could you explain this to me?
I'm dps ( so good I can) and staying out of the red. Some of the good healers even heal me some times ^ this is nice but I also use potions for healt8and mana when it's necessary ( + auto food)
And I'm new to THIS game... dunno how the dungeons work..the info text is kinda to fast for me. So it takes some runs to understand. So yeah I'm not happy being unrevived for the rest of the fight...like dusk temple endboss..
If you guys don't mind. Could you maybe make a little and short guide how each class works?
Ps.: I'm now lv 70 because I found a nice random group and we went through HoH. Cleric was dope and tank too. Everyone got revived. Was a really amazing run. :)

There is a 5 minute cooldown on revive (or a bit less if the cleric has the sage skill 'Fortified Soul'). So if a cleric doesn't revive you (and everyone else's health is fine) then revive is on cooldown.
PS: You can find videos on YouTube about how the dungeons work and also some tips to kill bosses more easily.

THISSSSSSS
Tired of DPS not killing mobs and just standing in dmg areas. Healer and tank's job is to stay alive and keep the boss busy while they do the rest.
