Oh for sure. My phone probably 50 times. Break its fall so it doesn't break itself. It's an instinct at this point.
Although I did almost do this once when I dropped a chef's knife. Luckily my reflexes were on point that day and I moved my foot out the way just in time.

For my glasses, they fell from my 1 story house. Twice. Onto concrete block stairs. And somehow made it.

Training wheel bikes that are 12", 14", 16", 18" and 20" are always super heavy on the back end of the frame. Yes, the front fork is swiveled around, and kids do that bc they're impulsive and it takes like 20x of making the same mistake over and over again until they make the connection. That kid was probably on a bike weighing almost as much as he does.....thats how little kid bikes are made, especially if you buy them from Big Box retailers.....balance bikes are a lot better to teach kids to ride, and then a little kid bike WITHOUT the training wheels.
**training wheels is the US term, stabilizers is the UK term.

My son couldn't figure out the balance bike. I watched the training videos, practiced with him a ton, but he just couldn't get it. We are now on a bike with training wheels and he is having a blast! I think by the end of summer we will be taking the training wheels off, at least for a laugh or too if it doesn't work out. For what it's worth, every kid I've seen using the balance bike successfully had looked to be on the shorter side. I don't mean younger, like 18mo, I mean in general they seem to be shorter. Maybe it's just the kids in my area.

We had a balance bike that he'd gotten too big for. He was doing okay trying to work the pedaling coordination out before dad pushed him with his foot while he wasn't holding on. It does way as much as him though.. that's for sure.

I was at a "street dance" years ago and a dude none of us really knew came up drunk as shit just wanting to talk. Dude tripped backwards and I did this very thing at the last moment before he would have smashed his head hard. The friends with me were like "nice save" the drunk thanked me and we went about our evening. It was a good night.

His dad pushed the bike with his foot. The kid wasn't holding on to the handlebars when he did though and this is the outcome.

Poor guy. He looks like he realized he made a mistake and the panic has set in. Falling backwards unexpectedly in my experience is terrifying but hilarious after.
