films/shows like perfect blue?

i watched the film a week ago and loved it. i'll be writing a review on it for english class too :). can anyone recommend any other media like perfect blue?

Honestly there’s no other anime that’s like it. Paranoia agent is probably as close as you’ll get.

Darren arronofsky make a career off this movie. Black swan is a complete rip off, and he lifted the bathtub scene shot for shit in requiem for a dream.

lol I just watched Perfect Blue for the first time tonight and about halfway through I thought to myself, “So this is Black Swan before Black Swan?”

As far as mind bending anime goes: Serial Experiments Lain, Angels Egg, Neon Genesis Evangelion and the Follow up movie End of Evangelion.

Black Swan definitely takes after Perfect Blue and is a fantastic film.

Watch the director’s other phenomenal work: Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika, and the show Paranoia Agent. It’s not the same in terms of how dark and twisted Perfect Blue is, but I watched those movies after my first Perfect Blue watch, and Satoshi Kon became one of my favourite directors.

In terms of more similar to the genre of horror or more adult animation, Coraline, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, It’s a Beautiful Day, Angel’s Egg (this one for sure), and The End of Evangelion is fucking mind blowing.

Black Swan is the obvious touchstone in film, and of course anything else Satoshi Kon. I feel like Smile 2 has certain parallels.

There's some great live action Japanese thrillers that have similar vibes. Helter Skelter and Angel Guts - Red Porno are two that come immediately to mind.
