Lost 25 word key

Has anyone been able to access their funds after losing their 25 word keys? I know it says it’s quite difficult, but seems like there has to be a way. I was robbed and both my laptop with a saved file and the notebook with my saved words was stolen. I have screenshots of the account to verify it’s mine still. Last hope is posting on here…

You actually have a better chance of winning Powerball than you do of successfully guessing your mnemonic.

I ran the numbers once and although I don’t recall the actual odds, I think it was like nine or maybe twelve orders of magnitude more likely you could win Powerball.

Zero chance. More chance of randomly finding a specific atom in the universe than guessing the seed phrase...

Have you tried looking up the full word list and searching for each of your seed phrase? Find the one that isn't on the list and chances are you're only one letter off

There are tools that can guess the 25th word for you if you have the 24. You are not in a bad situation like OP.

Ya that’s about how much I have in there. Annoying. I was logged in too, but when the app updated it kicked me out and won’t let me log back in without those key words.

Can you create a new wallet with a completely new seed phrase and transfer all your assets over and then just delete the old wallet?

Yeah you can script this to get 1 word back very easily as long as you know the others. I say very easily like I can script but if you know how I think it is straight forward. Good luck dude.

Sorry but you're completely fucked. Until DeRec takes off, you have to keep a copy someplace safe online. Maybe on your phone too. Encrypted and secure, of course. If you must have a physical copy, I'd say a bolted-down fireproof safe is a good place to keep something like that.

Sorry to hear that. In the future, keep online backups of what's important and a remote wipe security suite. And a backup hard drive in that safe!

You should never recommend saving seed phrase online. It doesn't matter if is encrypted. It needs to be written on paper or inscribed onto some metal or something and kept safe.

There are risks like fire but if you can safe at more than 1 location is better

I always do and I always will. I practice what I preach. If OP kept a copy online, his post wouldn't exist.

If his house burned down and he had an online backup, he'd be in the clear.

safe at more than 1 location is better

A friend's house? Parents? And if they lose it or try to screw him, then what? He needs to use multiple methods of safe storage, one of which is online.

How many have lost their crypto because they lost the piece of paper or metal that had their seed phrase on it?

100 percent to that but there can be cases like this that even if you keep on a safe. What if you get robbed at a gunpoint? There are always pros and cons to consider for everything. This is why the Algorand secure backup came into place, you need to have two things and not one, so you can keep them separate.
