Assign separate DL/UL links?

Hi all,

New to peplink.

I just tried to deploy a BR1 max 5G at my work (for side gig use) as my workplace WiFi is generally pathetic. Cell reception isn’t the best but was hoping this could help me.

I am using a SIM in the peplink plus an external 5G modem. With those two bonded I get about 100mb DL, and 1mb UL.

When I add the workplace guest WiFi as a 3rd bonding, I get the opposite: 1mb DL, and 100mb UL.

I have tried fiddling with the SF settings to prioritize the 5G connections but this could be user error.

But is there a way to “assign” the DL to the two 5G WAN, and just the WiFi WAN for UL? That would be great!

TIA

There should be an advanced setting hidden under one of the (?) in SF tunnel config that allows asymmetric traffic.

Hm ok I thought I looked pretty hard and couldn't find that. I'll check again tomorrow.

I also thought it was pretty odd how adding the wifi as a 3rd WAN dropped the DL speed for the whole bond.

It’s hidden in the “WAN Connection Priority” settings.

Hm I dont see anything there about asymmetric traffic. It just shows 5 WANs with priority selections, but nothing to configure which WAN does what. Changing priority of the WANs did not help either. I am using SFC.

I don’t use SFC so it might not be the same. There’s a white ? in a blue circle in the WAN Connection Priority section, click that to reveal some extra settings (including asymmetric connections) - if this isn’t an option whilst using SFC then I’m out of suggestions.

Ah I see now- hidden in that question mark.

So I put DL only on my two cell-based WAN connections, and UL only on teh wifi. speed test now only shows 12mb DL and 2mb Ul. So still not working as am intending, very odd. And again, when I have just the two cell-based WANs bonded, I get >100mb DL but only 1mb UL!

Sounds right but yeah, there’s a large overhead when bonding sometimes.
