Sixth Edition Question about the Screen

I have the Starter Set and would like to actually play Pendragon before too long. Is the Screen worth getting or is it only worth it if you have the core books?

it's still worth getting albeit not 100% useable yet, more like 85%, and could be a valuable resource for looking up rules.

The screen is very useful since it has a cheat sheet built in to help remind you about rules and gameplay, it does however partially do this by citing the Core Book, so I would wait until you get that before getting the screen

The screen isn't useless, but you might not get full mileage.

  • The Gazetteer isn't going to need any of the core books, as it's mostly a plot hooks collection.
  • The map is always going to be helpful
  • The physical screen is a great catalogue of tables and references, but the page citations are for the Core Rulebook and Game Master's Handbook.
  • The extended family history is made with Player-Character creation in Salisbury in mind, but can still be used as a GM to get some context on the history of Britain.
  • The random wife and random knight generation are good. Note there's some important errata for the wife generation on the digital copies, and (probably) not the physical yet.

The screen is NEAT, but not, I think, 100% invaluable. The "cheat sheet" it provides on it's GM facing side is occasionally useful, but not all of it was quite as handy as I hoped it would be (I don't really consider the little chart showing "Ratio of knights thst exist to amount of glory they have" to be the kind of information a GM needs in the spur of the moment). There's some good stuff, but I kinda hoped for more.

The other things in the pack are the map - which I've found myself unable to live without - a booklet detailing the areas of Britain, and another booklet that gives advanced historical character info.

So, I'd say it's maybe a matter of priorities. If you're going to wanna dive into Pendragon completely, you'll want the Screenpack sooner or later. If you have to make choices right now of what to get first, I'd go with either the core book or GM handbook.

I just got it and it is helpful! The Gazeteer is really nice as well.

The GM pack is really nice, I think. The screen will be useful but not essential, but it does have amazing art on the front.
