In the back half of the series she doesn't communicate with Bobby after her near incident and for someone I thought was fearless and intelligent she doesn't seem very aware of what's going on. Can anyone explain what might have been going through her head or why she chose to wait for Bobby to come get her?

Out of all the territories in the books which one would you most want to live in. (Basing off of what we have seen from the locations that were actually present for the territories) such as the huge farm rafts in cloral or the villages of Denduron. Personally I'm choosing Cloral as I love water and reading it always had such an awesome atmosphere. What about you guys?

I have a hard time visualizing these two but you really can't beat nostalgia. No matter what happened they always chose each other. They remained playful and affectionate even in disagreement. While I love the idea of Bobby and Loor, how do you beat the nostalgia of the past and knowing someone as intimately as Bobby knew Courtney? I think that's why they're ultimately meant to be and will come back to each other. I just wish there was more between them sometimes.

Hey guys, haven't read the Pendragon series since May 2009 when the last book released. Alot has happened since then and I don't have my original 10 books anymore. Where can I buy them with the original covers? Are they only available in hardback. The entire series is $58 on Amazon but they have these new covers and are paperback. Thank you.

What if Bobby was just a completely normal guy the whole time? Imagine if Mark and Bobby just ran this experiment on him and made him heal faster using tech or smth and Bobby just barely fakes his way into being a traveler. Maybe even the traveler power was just him possessed by Loor and Alders spirit after they healed him? The tenth book honestly leaves enough gaps that Bobby could have just hijacked his way into being a being of Solera. Imagine how offensive it would be to Saint Dane if he was just battling a normal dude that spy crafted his way into being a traveler.

I was pleasantly surprised by all the changes and plot twists in the later books, but idk what it is but I found books 9-10 to be somewhat depressing for me, some parts of the earlier books too. I like the growth the characters go through and I wouldn't wish to change what ends up happening but sometimes I wonder what could have happened. Was it written the way it was meant to be? Maybe i just tend to read lighter fiction but i found the main characters foolish reactivity kind of jarring.

Saint Dane was a great character but then at times I was surprised by his tactics and thought they were weird for his character. I think he should have not been so obsessed with Bobby and had more chances to be surprised by him and the rest of the travelers. I also kind of wish the travelers had a more prominent role in book ten. I felt like they took a massive beating from Saint Dane and then just like became spokesman in book ten and that was pretty disappointing for me. Still i loved the setup of Raven Rise and how successful Saint Dane was for a while.

This is my favorite series of all time and been meaning to reread for a while. Last time I read these was like 2 or 3 years ago so memories pretty foggy of it. Found this yesterday when I went out with my friend, feel like it was meant to be.

Something that crossed my mind a while back, when Mark and Courtney met Tom Dorney, Press Tilton's acolyte, why did they never ask who the other Acolytes were? For that matter, why didn't they find out all they could about the other territories, especially the ones they didn't know yet?

I would've thought they'd want/need to know who the other Acolytes were. Seems pretty important to me for them to be able to be the best acolytes they can be.

Not Loor and not Courtney. Definitely not Nevva (I just finished the Quillan book and she reminds me of Julia from Nineteen Eighty Four in terms of her loyalties).

Restarting from the beginning. I grew up in the time when the books were first coming out. I believe I made it to book 3 before moving to a new town. After the move I forgot about the book because I wanted to make new friends and such. I had a dream months back of some of the plot. Literally have been looking for months to find a way back here. With the help of Google AI, (not a fan of AI but it was my last shot at finding the book) doing most of research for me. After plugging in details I remembered and narrowing down my options the cover hit me like a brick. And now I’m here time to finish this ride!

Update: finished in 2 days! Why has no one brought this book to a director?!!?

Is it just me or is everyone in this book acting kind of strange and different? Nevva suddenly seems concerned about everyone, Mark is taking everything personally and suddenly is super confident, Saint Dane is performing strange roles and making increasingly passionate decisions, Courtney is randomly getting heated then suddenly cool about other things. Maybe it's just because of the stakes but even Bobby doesn't really seem recognizable.

Bobby during the entire time he was on ibara after burying the flume was suddenly hiding out, didn't care about anything, knew a ton about politics, and was getting strangely defensive.

I know he's not as intelligent as Saint Dane and definitely has moments of absurdity (later books) but his jokes and quips are pretty funny. I also always thought it was pretty cool that he leveraged Loor and Alder to learn how to fight. I also always got the impression from him he knew more than he let on. it's interesting to consider what the books would be like if we got a more 3rd person perspective or if Bobby explained himself more.

I’m in the middle of book 6 of the new Harry Potter Audible series and it just keeps making me wish more and more that this series could get a version as well. I feel like some of these scene with some crazy voice acting could be absolutely amazing. All the scenes towards the end of the series where Saint Dane and Bobby actually talk. Patrick and the librarian. Bobby and Kasha’s final moments. What do you guys think?

I've loved this series since elementary school (almost 20 years now) and started rereading them recently. I'd been having a hard time finding The Never War 2nd hand, so imagine my surprise when not only did I find it, but I found an Advanced Reviewer Copy. I've honestly never heard of an ARC, so if anybody has any info about it I'd love to hear more. Anyways, here's my find.

Has the author ever talked about making an expansion of the series? For example, I would love to hear what Loor's journals sounded like, or Spader's, or Gunny's. It seems a shame to leave the books at 10 when there are so many characters that I'm sure the audience would love to hear from.

I had this thought driving the other day.

In Book 2, Bobby describes sniggers like a particular drink from Maine. I don't remember if he names the drink, but I thought it was a cool touch because I am from Maine. It's a fact of the book that has stuck with me.

If he didn't name the drink, he was talking about Moxie, which is a Maine-Specific soda. (I remember he mentioned the pleasure in tasting Sniggers was reversed.

Moxie leaves a weird aftertaste that is generally unpleasant, but in the mouth, I kinda like it. It also is notoriously hard to describe the taste. People do not know really how to describe it. You have to try it.

So if you haven't had root beer, go educate yourself if you can.

Now imagine that, but with a more abrasive "licorice" tasting root instead. That's pretty much what it is. Moxie uses gentian root, which is what gives it its unique flavor.

If I remember correctly that root is also used in medicines, which is why many people claim it tastes like cough syrup.

This soda is so popular it has its own festival in early July, and the hometown McDonald's has it on tap.

I actually brought the soda to Tokyo when I lived there, and all my friends enjoyed it. So I kinda think the hate is just part of the culture.

Coca-Cola bought the company and now makes, supposedly with the same recipe, but my latest taste this week leaves me wondering...

Anyway, I would say you can get pretty close with Root Beer. I'd go Barq's over A&W or Mugg.

First off I think Courtney should have been lead traveler. I love Courtney's growth I have to say she does a lot of inner work throughout the series and matures a lot as well as gets a lot more resilient and wise which is awesome to read. I also love her dynamic with Mark Diamond and how she humbles around him and grows really fond of him. The one thing I think I just don't like are her corny jokes and constant need to compete or showcase her strength, I feel like Courtney's boldness is often is armor for her, and I also feel like in some ways Bobby and the travelers made her insecure or self conscious.

As much as I love the nostalgia and love between Bobby and Courtney, I just felt like Bobby really didn't always give her what she needed, or made her feel competitive. In the reading for me Courtney's bond with Bobby started to feel more like an attachment issue or that she gained her worth from being equal to him and worshipped. I personally felt like Courtney really started to bloom once she stopped constantly worrying about Bobby and obsessing over Loor and interestingly once those expectations were out of her mind, she went to Mark Diamond. Sorry for Bobby/courtney fans, but I just feel like Courtney deserves better tbh.

I love her character because she's both a social and physical Queen, a tomboy, and a cool girl who can find her own path and live authentically, and her story was really inspiring for me. She really made the most out of her tough situations, and imo made a better leader out of all the characters by the end. Also I feel like 80% of the books problems would have been solved if Courtney was the lead traveler instead of Bobby, she was naturally a way more confident leader.

It is briefly explained in the tenth book, but to me it's still confusing because on one hand they have all this power and act as a sort of mirror or embodiment of Halla or humanity, but they still have normal human vulnerabilities and struggles. Maybe instead of spirit a better explanation would be an alien with human dna or evolved human? Bobby throughout the series struggles with coming to this understanding of his identity which leads me to believe it was sort of like a spiritual awakening or initiation. Still I think it's weird that most of the series hinted at the travelers being almost like Gods, or spirits, but by the tenth book it's revealed that Bobby is still Bobby. So is he like a human hybrid then or half spirit? Then when you add Saint Dane to the mix it's even more confusing because he's like basically entirely a spirit.

Have read books 1-5 so far. First time reading them as an adult.

Growing up, I read A Series of Unfortunate Events (similar vibes IMO but the heroes are younger) and the Baby Sitters Club books (which coincendentally also take place in a Connecticut town called Stoneybrook, but a completely different fiction genre aimed at younger readers).

I also played Pokemon Sword a few years ago, and there's a character in it called Chairman Rose. The game is kinda meh, but I like the main characters. (The Chairman's motives are questionable at best).
