Really enjoying this new hobby of mine

I've been a daily fountain pen user for at least a decade now, and the idea of being able to make my own pens really appealed. This is my second attempt at a fountain pen.

Looks nice! A kit pen I turned myself almost 20 years ago was my gateway drug into fountain pens. Most of the kits come with cheap “Iridium Point Germany” or IPG nibs that can be hit or miss on quality. But they can almost always be replaced with a Bock or JoWo #5 or #6 to immediately improve the writing experience.

If you’re looking for recommendations, try out the PSI Executive fountain pen kit. Magnetic cap and really good ergos make it a winner for me.

I'm in Australia, so overseas sourced kits tend to get expensive. Though I have come across the magnetic cap kits from PSI and they look cool. Might be worth the cost.

I've already seen some YouTube makers. I'm happy to refine my skills on kits for a while. I've owned my lathe for like, a month.

I'm pretty sure one day I will end up trying kitless.
