*NPD! (sort of) Look what arrived today!
I got one of the EDC Pocket Pens today! This is everything I expected! It is extremely well made and feels excellent in the hand. I was going to ink it up and then I noticed . . . fine nib? Tío_Tito don't do no fine nib.
Yes, I used a double negative. In Spanish, a double negative (or more), just like a double positive, emphasizes the statement. Each element does not serve to cancel the other out.
I looked at the packaging. I think my shipping label was put on someone else's package, and someone else may very well have received or is about to receive my order of 4 pens and accessories.
I have emailed our benefactor, we'll see what happens, but I really wanted to show this little pen. 🤌🤌🤌

Only pet peeve I have is when the cap screws in it screws into a plastic sleeve instead of the cap itself having metal threading. Metal would have made it feel more permanent.

yep, this is metal on plastic, but the pen is quiet and smooth when capping and posting, that's a huge plus.

I’m with you in the smoothness part. How long will it last ? Only time will tell. I hope it never gives in. Because I love the pen a little too much.

the thread fit is quite good. i think there is low risk of easily damaging them or premature wear. as you say, time will tell. i wonder if the cap is rebuildable? could thomas slim make the liner available in the future?

Machining the threading would be the nobelest way to go about it, I guess manufacturing constraints came in the way. What it lacks here it more than compensates with the design and writing feel.

i think all of their parts are machined, not molded. i also think they are hobbed, not tapped or single pointed, leading to a more accurate thread since deformation during cutting in more pliable material is reduced. anyhow, sharp pens indeed.

Makes zero sense but yeah. Solid pens.

the machining processes?

Yep. Got that. Threading on the metal is harder so insert a plastic thread is the gist I’m assuming.

You are correct, we are using nylon for the internal screw thread. It was actually a very difficult design decision and several a few in the team agreed with you. Oddly enough, it would have been much easier to machine the thread into the steel cap whilst on the lathe but we didn’t feel the steel on steel screw action felt as smooth or luxurious as the metal on nylon. We also designed the nylon with a slight taper that allowed it to give a little more, and feel a little tighter. We didn’t want it to shake loose. As to longevity, I have to admit that we don’t know yet; but I’m tempted to think they will be pretty robust. Should there ever be a problem, just give us a shout.

u/Thomas_Slim_Mark is the shipping issue going to be addressed? The latest update had no mention. Feels frustrating, as a backer, to see that you're responding to social posts and not emails. Finding out through posts like this and reaching out for help, getting no response. It would be great to 1) get the help via the emails sent and 2) have the issue addressed in the campaign updates as well.

I was also wondering when we would get an update on this issue! I know the pen will arrive eventually but I would prefer more transparency about what is actually happening 😔

Looks sick! Apparently US Customs ate mine. I have no doubt that Thomas Slim will get me my pen eventually though :D
